Brick firing

Brick firing is the final stage of its production.

It is quite possible to make brick firing at home despite the fact that it seems difficult. And a lot of people have already proved that not only large brick factories, but also ordinary people can do it. The process of creating bricks with their own hands is only advisable when planning a large construction project or for selling products.

In principle, at home, you can produce building, chess, corpulent bricks.

Stages

To create a brick will need to overcome several steps:

  1. material preparation
  2. brick shaping,
  3. drying
  4. burning.

The last stage is the most time consuming, costly and responsible. At this stage it is very important to adhere to the production technology so that the marriage does not come out.

 Brick firing

For firing, a stove is needed. Building it does not take much time.Furnaces are rectangular and round. The shape of the oven does not affect the quality of the product, it is selected solely to taste.

When choosing the place of installation of the furnace you need to remember about fire safety. It is necessary to install a furnace away from combustible structures and materials. It is also desirable to have on hand a water source or other fire extinguishing agents.

Stages of construction:

  • First you need to create a foundation for the future furnace. The depth is about 50cm, and other dimensions depend on the shape of the furnace. But the foundation should protrude 5-10 cm beyond the furnace.
  • On the foundation walls are built, the wall should be 50cm thick. After the erection of 2/3 of the height of the walls, the thickness is reduced to 25 cm and the constriction begins to form a chimney. There should be an opening in the wall for loading the blanks.
  • After the design is ready, a layer of fine crushed stone 10cm thick is poured into the bottom of the furnace. That's actually everything is ready.
  • Now you need to properly load the workpiece in the finished oven. They are positioned so that between the blanks there was some space for heat to enter there.Billets have at the rate of about 220-240 pieces per cubic meter. Above, you can arrange 300 pieces at the same volume.
  • Coal or wood is best for the firebox. Better, of course, coal. Sometimes burners are used to create the desired temperature.

To begin harvesting, it is necessary to dry for 2-3 days at a temperature of 160-200 ° C. Then the temperature is increased to 900-1000 ° C. And so support 3-4 days.

Cooling should be done slowly. To do this, an opening in the furnace must be laid with bricks and covered with clay in order to prevent air from entering there.

After cooling it is necessary to check the quality of the finished brick. To do this, gently knock it with a hammer. If the brick is of good quality, there should be no damage, and the sound should be ringing. Those bricks that did not work out can be sent for re-firing or used to build interior walls.
