Varieties and the principle of operation of wall fans

You can find a lot of publications, which explain why you need ventilation in a house or apartment. A number of companies are also trying to use similar materials to promote their products. But consumers need more objective and accurate information on purely practical, technical issues.

Special features

A wall fan is required as part of the climate and ventilation systems. You can target it:

  • horizontally;
  • vertically;
  • at a given angle.

Professionals believe - and practice confirms this view - that such devices are harmoniously combined with the supply and exhaust systems. Thanks to them, they manage to install ventilation systems directly under the suspended ceilings.Moreover, the value of wall fans is also in the fact that they allow you to mount not one general direction, but a set of local branches. As a result, the total length of airways is reduced.

Where it can be used

Wall mounted fans can be both domestic and industrial in their intended use. In the residential sector, such structures are mainly used for forced air evacuation. Installation is made in special channels, and this approach is optimal:

  • in the bathroom;
  • in the kitchen;
  • in the toilet or combined bathroom.

Unlike used houses, industrial wall fans are designed to provide fresh air in a large area. Strong reasons for the purchase and installation of ventilation equipment will be:

  • bad smell in the house;
  • weakness of natural thrust;
  • overflow of ventilation shafts with various inclusions;
  • complete absence of air intake on the tributary.

Tips for choosing and varieties

Fans that are mounted on the wall, from the point of view of the consumer, are divided into two subgroups - with and without the control panel.It is not difficult to understand which option is the most convenient in practice. But, apart from this division, there are other points that are recommended to pay attention to professionals. They distinguish axial and centrifugal models, the difference between which is very large. Centrifugal devices operate by pulling air into the opening of the apparatus, from where it passes into the gap separating the blades of the wheel.

Further, the centrifugal force (just giving the name of the system) transfers the air mass to the exit point. Such systems are invariably driven by an electric motor. If the blades on the wheels are bent backwards, the total current consumption is reduced, and overloading by airflow is excluded.

But some consumers prefer the less noisy version with the opposite direction of the blades. Even such structures have less moving wheel, and hence the device itself.

All centrifugal fans on average outperform similar products of other types with their performance. Therefore, the air will be guaranteed to be cooled in a short time in any room. Manufacturers have mastered the production of heterogeneous in appearance and characteristicsventilation devices. But it is better to understand their features if we compare them with axial structures. It is the axial type of ventilation that is considered the best choice where the pressure is low and the air flow is large.

Centrifugal structures, by contrast, necessarily require the use of air ducts. In the selection process will have to take into account the level of aerodynamic drag and the required pressure at the inlet to the pipeline. With regard to such advantages as increased resistance to heat, to caustic environments and pollution - this is important primarily for the industry. But an axial fan with a mount on the suspension panel is much better suited when the load can vary significantly. Comparison of sound volume shows fairly close positions, but if centrifugal systems create noise in the lower frequencies, then the main part of the energy of axial devices falls within the middle range.

It is necessary to use the exhaust type of centrifugal fans only where the air is guaranteed not to warm up to more than 55 degrees. Fastening is done strictly outside. For residential premises, the installation of medium pressure devices is recommended.

Of course, regardless of the type of apparatus, it is necessary to evaluate its performance: it must (minus the loss of air movement) guarantee the compliance of the environment in the room with hygienic indicators.

As for silent wall fans, they are very real and exist not only in advertising, as it may seem. Moreover, such devices are more economical. No wonder, because the outside sound is also a useless consumption of working energy. Usually silent fans are of the channel type, which requires careful assessment of their compliance with the already prepared channels.

Getting acquainted with reviews of any model of ventilation equipment, you need to pay attention to:

  • ease of installation and management;
  • price level;
  • intensity of vibration and / or noise;
  • lifetime;
  • features routine maintenance.

Round axial fans are able to perform the task for a long time. They are very well placed in typical channels for the passage of air and are distinguished by decent cooling. But the intensity of the sound is sometimes too high.The diagonal version is less “loud”, and a specific method of blowing power drives allows you to pump more air at the same current flow rate.

Important: all fans installed in bathrooms must have protection class IP24 and higher.
