Enamel "XB 124": properties and applications

 Enamel HV 124: properties and application

Any wooden and metal surfaces used for exterior finishing in conditions of heat, cold, increased dampness need additional protection. Perchlorvinyl enamel "XB 124" is designed specifically for this purpose. Due to the formation on the basis of the barrier layer, it increases the service life of the coating and its strength, and also performs a decorative function. Useful properties of this product make it possible to use it not only in construction, but also in other areas.

Distinctive properties

The basis of the material is polyvinyl chloride chlorinated resin, which is supplemented with alkyd compounds, organic solvents, fillers and plasticizers.When coloring pigments are added to the mixture, a suspension of a certain color is obtained, the technical characteristics of which correspond to international quality standards.

The main important properties of paint:

  • the ability to withstand large amplitudes of critical temperatures;
  • resistance to any type of metal corrosion (chemical, physical and electrochemical interaction with the medium);
  • fire resistance and moisture resistance, immunity to the aggressive influence of oils, detergents, household cleaners, gasoline;
  • plastic, moderately viscous structure, providing good adhesion;
  • obstruction of the occurrence and spread of rust;
  • durability and the ability to optimally perform the task of decoration.

Enamel dries completely in about 24 hours. With strong thickening, different types of solvents are used.

To protect the coating from temperature extremes and corrosion, enamel is applied to wood and reinforced concrete. Work on the metal produced after the necessary primer. The painted surfaces are kept in cold conditions for at least 4 years. When exposed to high temperatures and intense ultraviolet radiation - up to 3 years.The tree does not need to be primed before use, the enamel is applied to it immediately. Three layers is enough for 6 years of successful operation.

The main colors of enamel: gray, black, protective. Blue and green paints are also available.

Drawing

It is possible to apply paint on a metal surface with a brush or a roller, but it is preferable to work with a pneumatic device. Airless spraying is better for large areas. Electrical equipment provides a better design. For such a paint supply, it is necessary to dilute it as much as possible with RFG or R-4A solvent.

The preparatory stage includes several highlights:

  • Careful stripping of the metal from dirt, dust, oils, scale and rust is necessary. The characteristic is the characteristic gloss of the surface, evenly distributed roughness of the material, in places with dross the base color may be darker.
  • After cleaning should be completely dusty and degrease the coating. To do this, it is wiped with a cloth moistened with white spirit.
  • It is necessary to check the presence of grease stains by wiping with a special filter paper based oncellulose, fibrous substances and asbestos (there should be no traces of oil on it).
  • Permissible to use for cleaning abrasive, sandblasting. So even the smallest particles of rust can be removed from metal.
  • In the presence of certain contaminants, they are cleaned and degreased locally.
  • Then you should carry out the primer with the “VL”, “AK” or “FL” compositions. The surface must be completely dry.

Immediately before staining, the solution is stirred until a homogeneous mass is formed and the first layer is applied on a dry primer. Primary drying lasts no more than 3 hours, after which the next layer can be applied.

The three-layer coating is mainly made for temperate climatic zones., four layers are designed for the tropical belt. If you need to protect the metal in cold conditions, you will need to perform three layers of painting on the primer "AK-70" or "VL-02". The time interval between the application of layers is not less than 30 minutes.

When dyeing it is important to observe precautions:

  • ensure maximum ventilation in the room;
  • Do not allow enamel to be applied near sources of ignition;
  • it is desirable to protect the body with a special protective suit, hands with gloves, and face with a gas mask, since getting paint on the mucous membrane of the eyes and in the airways is dangerous to health;
  • if the solution is still on the skin, it is urgent to wash it with plenty of soapy water.

Coloring wood is made in a similar way, but does not require pre-priming.

Product consumption per square meter

In many ways, this figure depends on the thickness of the solution. On average, about 130 grams of paint is required for one meter of area if you use a pneumatic device. In this case, the viscosity of the mixture should be less than when using a roller or brush. In the latter case, the consumption per 1 m2 is about 130-170 grams.

The amount of material spent is influenced by the temperature of the room and moderate humidity. These parameters are especially important near the treated coatings. The consumption of the coloring solution depends on the number of applied layers, which depend on climatic conditions.

To obtain the most durable protective coating, you should consider the optimum temperature for work (from -10 to +30 degrees), the percentage of humidity in the room (no more than 80%), the viscosity of the solution (35-60).

Scope of application

Due to its protective properties under adverse weather conditions, fire resistance, moisture resistance, frost resistance and anticorrosion enamel "XB 124" can be used in different areas of production:

  • for repair and construction during the construction of private buildings, to maintain the strength of wooden facades;
  • in the engineering industry;
  • in instrument making for various purposes;
  • for processing of reinforced concrete, steel structures, bridges and production workshops;
  • in the military industry to protect the surface of equipment and other objects from corrosion, sunlight, cold.

The enamel "XB 124" is extremely in demand in the construction of residential and industrial complexes in the Far North, where its frost-resistant qualities are highly appreciated, making it possible to harden the external walls at low temperatures.

The paint is also used for decorative painting of any metal structures. For wood, the dye can be used additionally as an antiseptic for the prevention of fungus and mold.

Official document on the quality of building material - GOST No. 10144-89.It outlines the main characteristics of the product, the rules of application and the maximum allowable ratio of components.
