When buying a tile in the toilet room, it is important to consider that, as a rule, different types of materials are used for the floor and walls. The floor will need a strong and durable material that will easily withstand a constant load.

According to the method of manufacture, 3 types of floor tiles are distinguished. Pressed tiles are produced using clay materials. The mixture is formed by a press under high pressure. The method of making extrusion tiles is different. The liquid mass is forced through a special extrusion die.

Porcelain stoneware is produced by pressing and high-temperature roasting of the mineral mixture and clay. The result is a material that is very convenient in operation and has good aesthetic characteristics. It is resistant to abrasion, and is also well resistant to mechanical stress, such as scratches and indentations.

The surface layer of the tile can give a glossy shine or leave it matte. Gloss is achieved using a special glaze, which covers the entire surface.

Usually, when repairing an apartment, the main attention is paid to the general appearance of the interior and first of all they pay attention to the combination of colors and the appearance of the coating.

But this should not be the only criterion for the choice of materials, especially when selecting a tile for the floor to the toilet:

• It is important to bear in mind that floor tiles differ in their properties and characteristics from wall tiles, therefore even the most beautiful material for walls does not justify itself on the floor. Wall tiles are not designed to withstand the load, moreover, their coating is very slippery, which will only increase the risk of injury if laying the floor with such a coating.
• On sale there is a special tile, which is designed for increased loads. There is no special need to buy such a floor covering for the bathroom of the apartment, since this will only be an overpayment of money. This coating is usually trimmed floors in a restaurant or cafe.
• The same applies to tiles with such additional characteristics as frost and heat resistance. Such coverage will be needed only if the tiles are bought in a private house that is not heated in winter. It can also be useful for bathrooms in production, where frequent temperature differences are possible. For apartments, the purchase of such coverage is not justified.

• For the floor in the toilet is highly desirable to choose tiles with a smooth coating, without depressions and grooves. It is more difficult to care for relief tiles, as there is a high probability of the appearance of germs and dirt, which will be harder to wash.
• If resistance to temperatures is not too important for a home bathroom, then resistance to various chemicals plays a big role. It is important that even the most aggressive household substances do not affect its original appearance.

Doing repairs in the bathroom, I want to eventually get a beautifully decorated room. To do this, choose a wall and floor tiles that will be well combined. The traditional design is the choice of dark colors for the floor and light colors for the walls. To originally distinguish tones, you can use special borders or decorative tiles.

As a wall and floor tiles, in addition to the standard options, you can lay a Christmas tree. This method refers to the parquet variant of laying, and it can be used with rectangular tiles. Often laying flooring perform a modular way.At the same time use material of the different sizes or flowers. The result is the original appearance of the floor.

Laying mosaics on the floor in the toilet will help to visually make the area of ​​a small room wider. This is especially true for apartments where toilets are very small. In such rooms it is better to avoid dark colors, and dwell on gentle colors, for example, pink, silver or blue.

Modern paints allow you to paint the ceramic floor tiles, if you need to update its appearance or just change the colors in the interior. In this case, as a rule, use paint on an oil or latex basis. You can also use stencil patterns to get original design solutions.

Before you start laying tiles on the floor in the bathroom you need to carefully prepare the base. If there are defects, the concrete screed should be carefully leveled to get rid of cracks. It is very important to wait until it is completely dry.

On the already prepared base lay tile and number it. Do not neglect this advice, especially if a tile with a pattern is selected on the floor.

The most commonly used direct method of laying or diagonal:

• For direct installation, first make a floor layout. If the toilet room is rather narrow, then the tile should be laid so that the whole tiles are in the center, and the cut parts are hidden near the walls. Next, lay the tiles on the markup using a special glue. Direct mounting is suitable for both rectangular and square tiles.
• With the help of diagonal styling, you can correct the room, the shape of which is initially wrong. In this case, start from the center of the threshold, and the whole tile is cut in half diagonally. In this way, only square tiles are laid. With this type of installation you can visually enlarge the room slightly.

Ceramic tiles as a floor covering for a bathroom undoubtedly have many advantages. It allows you to slightly correct the disadvantages of the room, make it visually wider. Using various ways of laying, as well as choosing the right color, you can achieve the desired effect and transform the room.
