Cedral siding: advantages, colors and installation features

Fiber cement panels Cedral (“Kedral”) is a building material intended for finishing facades of buildings. It combines the aesthetics of natural wood and the strength of concrete. Through the use of this siding, it is possible not only to transform the house, but also to ensure its protection from adverse weather effects.

Cedral siding uses cellulose fibers, cement, mineral additives, quartz sand and water. These components are mixed and subjected to heat treatment.The result is extremely durable and resistant to power loads of the product. Sheathing is available in the form of long panels. Their surface is covered with a specialized protective layer that protects the material from negative external influences. Panels can have a smooth or embossed texture.

Thanks to this property, the panels can be installed regardless of the season. Another feature of siding include its thickness: it is 10 mm. The large thickness causes high strength properties of the material, while resistance to impact and reinforcement functions ensures the presence of cellulose fiber.

The panels of each type have a standard length (3600 mm), but different indicators of width and thickness. Sheathing in one and in the second line is available in a wide range of colors. The manufacturer offers a choice of both light products and materials in dark colors (up to 30 different shades). Each type of product is distinguished by its brightness and richness of colors.

Cedral fiber cement sheathing is the best alternative to wood finishing. This siding surpasses a natural cedar in the technical characteristics and operational qualities.

Do not forget about the disadvantages of siding. The disadvantages include a large mass of productsbecause of which it is inevitable to create a high load on the supporting structures of the structure. Also of the disadvantages can be distinguished by the high cost of material.

Installation of cladding material includes several steps. The first is preparatory. Before installing the siding should carefully prepare the wall. Stone surfaces are cleaned, irregularities are eliminated. After that, the walls need to be covered with a soil compound. Wood surfaces should be treated with antiseptic and covered with a membrane.

The next stage includes the installation of the battens and insulation. The subsystem includes horizontal and vertical bars, pre-impregnated with an antiseptic composition. Initially, horizontal products are fastened to the bearing wall with nails or screws. The crate should be laid in 600 mm increments. The space between the horizontal bars must be laid mineral wool or other insulation (the thickness of the insulator should be the same with the thickness of the beam).

Next is the installation of vertical bars on top of the horizontal. For fiber cement boards, it is recommended to leave an air gap of 2 cm,to avoid the risk of condensation on the wall under the skin.

The next step is the installation of the starting profile and additional elements. To eliminate the risks of penetration of rodents and other pests under the skin, fix the perforated profile around the perimeter of the building. Then the starting profile is mounted, thanks to which it is possible to set the optimal slope of the first panel. Next is the fastening of the corner elements. Then at the joints of the substructure (from bars) an EPDM tape is installed.

To fix the Cedral cement board, you will need screws and a screwdriver. Collect the cloth to the bottom up. The first panel must be laid on the starting profile. The overlap should not be less than 30 mm.

Installation, as in the previous version, starts from the bottom. Procedure:

• mounting panel on the starting profile;
• fixing the top of the board with a kleimer;
• installation of the next panel on the clamps of the previous product;
• mount top mounted board.

All assembly should be made according to this scheme. It is easy to work with the material, because it is easily processed.For example, fiber cement boards can be cut, drilled or milled. If necessary, such manipulations will not require specialized equipment. You can use tools at hand, such as Bulgarian, jigsaw or "circular".

So far, few Russian consumers have chosen and sheathed their home with Kedral siding. But among buyers there are those who have already managed to respond and leave feedback about this facing material. All people point out the high cost of siding. If we consider that the finishing will not be done independently, but by hired craftsmen, the house will be very expensive to trim.
