Choose curtains for curtains in the bedroom

Bedroom is a special place for each person. It is from its design depends a good rest, as well as a healthy sleep. All details of the design are important in the overall interior of the bedroom, including the design of the window. The design of the window opening is made using not only thick curtains, but also light translucent fabric. Curtains for the curtains in the bedroom should be chosen, focusing on certain recommendations.

What it is?

Very often, the curtain is identified with the ceiling eaves, but this is a misconception. A curtain is a translucent fabric capable of transmitting light and air. Its second name (tulle) fabric is obliged to the skill of the French weavers from the city of the same name. Invented in the XV century, it was originally intended for the bride of the king. From it they sewed a dress for the future queen.Much later, it began to be used as a curtain for windows.

Initially, this fabric was available only to rich people, since its production required expensive materials. Weaved her by hand. Much later (with the advent of weaving machines and synthetic fibers), it became more affordable and more diverse in its range.

Materials

Modern curtains are usually made of synthetic fibers. Smoothness, durability and elasticity of the fabric give polyamide fibers. Exists several types of tulle curtains:

  • Organza It is an elastic and fairly rigid fabric, but at the same time it is light and transparent. When draping this fabric (having either a matte or shiny surface), rather elastic folds are formed.
  • Veil - it is a soft fabric with a good drape. It has flowing folds - unlike organza.
  • Kisey is a separate hanging thread. Thanks to this design, the threads can be twisted in some places.
  • Net or net tulle different from previous versions of its texture. This material consists of interconnected cells (of different shapes, sizes and densities). In addition, this look can be decorated with embroidery.

Types of fastening

Curtain can be attached to the cornice in various ways:

  • With the help of special metal or plastic curtain rings hung on the cornice. They are inserted into the upper part of the curtain (at equal distance). Suspension occurs by stringing on the eaves. Thanks to the grommet curtain draped by beautiful uniform folds.
  • The curtain is most often hung with a special decorative tape, which has loops and outstretched laces. Thanks to these laces folds of various sizes are formed. The loops serve as anchorage for hooks located on the rings, which are strung on the cornice.
  • A less common option is loops. They are usually made either from the same fabric as the curtain, or from a suitable, well combined with the main one.

Tips for choosing

To the bedroom was cozy and comfortable, you need to correctly approach the choice of curtains.

First you need to decide on the color of the future curtains. It should fit into the overall design concept, be combined in color with elements of the interior.

For the bedroom, the window of which faces the north side, it is better to use warm shades (peach, beige). Thanks to them, the bedroom will be warm and cozy.If the window faces south, you can hang a curtain of cold shade. Turquoise, blue, lime colors will create coolness and freshness in the bedroom, soothe and adjust to rest.

The use of dark shades (burgundy, brown, emerald) contributes to intimacy and privacy. However, do not forget that these shades do not need to be used in a small bedroom, they visually reduce the size of the room.

The size of the curtain will depend on the width of the window opening, the area of the bedroom, the size of the cornice, on the idea of the designer. For multiple folds need to properly select the width of the curtain. It should be almost twice the length of the eaves. In the bedroom with low curtain ceilings, as a rule, is selected in the floor, thereby visually increasing the height of the ceiling.

It is also necessary to take into account that voluminous folds and large drawings on the curtain are not the best option for a small bedroom. A monotonous curtain in bright colors will look much more aesthetically pleasing, especially if it is used in conjunction with curtains. For curtains with a pattern, the most suitable option would be a curtain without a pattern, combined with them in color.

When selecting curtains, you must also take into account the density. If you live on the ground floor and the window is as close as possible to the windows of the neighboring house, then a thick curtain is the most suitable option. Density is also important when targeting windows. A window facing the south or east can be decorated with a dense organza that diffuses daylight well. If the window looks at the north or west side, then a light and thin curtain-veil would be a more suitable option.

Buying curtains, do not forget about the practicality of the product. For longer life, the fabric should not touch the battery. When the heater is located directly under the window sill, you need to either purchase a special eaves, which, due to its design, will push the tulle forward, or restrict yourself to a curtain up to the window sill.

The delicate material from which tulle is made requires special care. Washing in the machine should be done sparingly, and ironing at a low temperature. In addition, special nozzles on the vacuum cleaner and steam cleaner will help to give the curtain a well-groomed and fresh look.

Bedroom style

Recently, more and more new collections began to appear, thanks to which you can choose a curtain to almost any style of bedroom:

  • Curtain with 3D-drawing is a novelty. A large variety of patterns allows you to choose the curtain that is most suitable for a particular bedroom. If you prefer such a curtain, you need to remember that the rest of the elements that make up the interior should be in soothing neutral colors. Only some products (bedspread, carpet) can match the basic patterns of curtains in tone. Versions with 3D-pattern are more suitable for high-tech and eclectic styles.
  • For high-tech style with its glossy surfaces, you can also pick up a single-colored curtain with a brilliant texture and a minimum number of folds.
  • For baroque style with its predominant gold elements and luxurious forms, an organza variant with a large number of folds will suit.
  • Provence style allows the use of floral print curtains (if the curtains are solid or tulle - the only fabric that is used for the window). If the flowers are on the curtains, then the tulle should be monotonous.
  • Japanese style the curtain is not used as often, but without it it is not so cozy and comfortable in the bedroom. Therefore, such a fabric with its separately hanging threads will solve two problems at once: it will successfully fit into this oriental style and create comfort in the bedroom.
  • In classic style the main role is assigned to curtains, and the curtain is an additional element emphasizing the color and texture of the curtains. The light, light veil will perfectly harmonize with the curtains and will perfectly fit into the classic style.

Properly selected curtains - a pledge of healthy sleep and good mood.
