 We make soap box do-it-yourself: types and master class

Comfort in the house consists of many small things: beautiful curtains, soft rug, candles, figurines and much more. Regular soap dish is no exception. It is a cute and useful accessory. In addition, the soap dish does not necessarily have to be a boring piece of plastic. Everyone is able to independently make a stylish and beautiful accessory without spending extra money, effort and time on it. To start creating, we suggest to get acquainted with several simple, but original options for creating a soap box.

Manufacturing rules

Before proceeding to the creation of such a subject, we call the universal parameters that should be guided.

The simpler the better

You should not choose a model that is too complicated to manufacture. After all, even the most trivial design will do an excellent job with its intended purpose. It is rational to use your time and energy to create a beautiful and unique product.

Minimum details

Compliance with this rule will help facilitate the process of manufacturing the soap dish and caring for it. In addition, a concise accessory looks more stylish and neat.

Moistureproof material type

From constant contact with water, some materials can quickly deteriorate and deform. The selection of material must be particularly careful. The service life of the finished product depends on it.

Appropriate design

It is necessary to take into account the overall style of the room for which the product is intended. With this in mind, choose its color, size and shape. The accessory should complement the interior, and not get out of it.

Cover

If you are going to place a soap box in an open space, for example, in a garden, you should consider protecting the soap from external factors. To do this, be sure to cover the product.

Species

Today you can make a soap box of different materials.

  • wall;
  • magnetic,
  • classical;
  • decorative.

Consider different versions of the soap dish with their own hands, depending on the type of material used.

From plastic

Such material differs in the small weight, durability, usability and unpretentiousness in leaving.

For the manufacture will need:

  • metal molds for baking;
  • beverage tube;
  • baked plastic;
  • stationery file;
  • vinyl napkin;
  • scissors;
  • rolling pin.

Choose the plastic of the desired color or mix several shades, knead it and form a ball. Then put the resulting mass on the file or polyethylene. Pre-moisten the cellophane with water to make it easier to detach the plastic. Now you need to press on the ball so that it takes the form of a pancake, then cover it with another layer of polyethylene moistened with water. Roll out the plastic with a rolling pin to the desired thickness, for example, 3 mm.

Remove the top layer of polyethylene, replace it with a vinyl napkin with a three-dimensional pattern. They pass a rolling pin through the material so that the napkin pattern is clearly imprinted on the plastic.You can do it differently: use a metal mold for cookies instead of a napkin. Carefully remove the napkin or mold, remove residual polyethylene.

It is necessary to give the product a final look. You can leave the existing form, make beautiful flounces, using the form of an ashtray or other dishes. Do not forget to make holes at the bottom of the soap dish so that the water always runs off. For this you can use a straw. Place the blank in the oven and bake according to the instructions that came with the plastic.

Before removing the product from the oven, wait until it is completely set.

From scrap materials

Often the necessary material for the soap dish is at hand. Consider the most interesting tricks of execution.

From the bottle

To make a beautiful and practical soap box, a regular plastic bottle is enough. Cut the bottom of the two containers in such a way that their height is at least 5 cm. Sew these two parts with a normal zipper. The resulting product can be used in the bathroom or bath, take with you on the road. Fast, practical and inexpensive.

From the bottom of a small plastic bottle is easy to make a flower soap box. Cut out the bottom of any height, heat the edges with a candle or a lighter to give them an asymmetrical shape. It remains only to paint the finished product in the desired color.

To do this, choose a moisture-resistant paint in cans.

From wine corks

If there are corks of wine in the house, do not throw them away. We offer a simple and fast version of the soap dish. Prepare 19 stoppers and a tube of regular glue. Make the bottom of the product by connecting the elements with a square of 3x3 cm. Then create the sides of the soap dish, gluing the remaining plugs along the edges just above the base.

Of ice cream sticks

Another option is a simple budget soap dish. Prepare scissors, hot water, glue, sticks of wood. Soak the sticks in water, give them a slightly curved shape. This is necessary in order to be able to place the soap as convenient as possible.

Dry the parts, then on the base of the two sticks make a grid of 6 more elements. Carefully glue them together using a waterproof agent. Duplicate the result, connect the two lattice bases with each other with rods from the sides.

For convenience, you can add a sponge back to the soap dish.

Polymer clay

This material opens up unlimited scope for creativity. Using polymer clay or epoxy resin, you can create any shape of the product. For example, a funny octopus. To do this, you need a little colored clay, as well as foil.

Make a ball of foil with a diameter of 2-3 mm. Then create a cake made of polymer clay and cover it with a ball. So the future octopus head will turn out. Next, prepare 8 balls of different diameters and form sticks from them, which will serve as tentacles. Now secure them to the base of the octopus head.

The three front tentacles need to be bent up a bit. They will serve as a stand for soap. Twist one of the longest tentacles using a marker. This will be a brush holder. It remains to deal with small details. From the remains of clay form the eyes, but also the mouth of an octopus.

You can decorate it with additional accessories, such as a hat.
