Features drywall "Volma"

The Volgograd company of the same name deals with the manufacture of Volma plasterboard. The material was created with the expectation of rooms that have an average level of humidity. Its main feature is its multifunctionality, thanks to which drywall is used for partitions, leveling and finishing walls, as well as creating hinged ceiling structures.

Special features

The basic substance of the Volma GCR is natural gypsum, which is first crushed and then burned at a temperature of 180-200 degrees. On both sides, sheets of material are covered with several protective layers of cardboard. They have refined edges, which allows the formation of invisible seams. The edges of the ends are made in the shape of a rectangle. They have an impeccably smooth and even surface.

To improve the quality of the coating and its hardening, some types of material include auxiliary components:

  • cellulose;
  • fiberglass;
  • starch;
  • special impregnation from the fungus and repel moisture, pollution.

Benefits

Volma quality drywall has the following positive characteristics:

  • is fireproof;
  • may be subject to destruction only after six hours of constant heating;
  • GCR sheets have a dense monolithic structure due to the gypsum core;
  • the relative lightness of the plates is noted - this noticeably facilitates the work of builders;
  • optimum vapor permeability allows laying the sheets on different bases;
  • hydrophobic additives reduce fluid absorption up to 5%;
  • The material is considered safe and environmentally friendly, as evidenced by a certificate of quality and positive feedback from specialists and ordinary users.

The scope of use of this product is quite large due to its plasticity and low weight, so it is used as a basis for wallpaper, ceramic tile, decorative types of plaster.

Installation work involves fixing drywall to wood frames and metal profiles using self-tapping screws. In addition, sheets of gypsum plasterboard with a different technology can be fixed on a special plaster glue.

Species

The main types of products - standard sheets GKL, moisture-resistant, fire-resistant materials combining fire resistance and moisture resistance.

Moisture resistant

This material is a rectangular slab consisting of two layers of cardboard with a plaster filling, reinforcing additives and water-repellent water repellents. Standard sheet parameters - 2500х1200х9.5 mm. Their weight is up to 7 kg. Plates with parameters 2500x1200x12.5mm weigh about 35 kg, however it is possible to order material of a different length (from 2700 to 3500 mm).

Sheets with a thickness of 9.5 mm, as a rule, are used to design ceilings in the kitchen, bathroom, and bathroom. Prerequisite is the presence of a ventilation system. It is also possible to use for curvilinear planes - GKL Volma is quite flexible and plastic, but you should know that they can only be bent in length. Self-tapping screws are great for fasteners, as they do not crack the product.

When assembling the structure on the frame, it is necessary to consider some subtleties of installation:

  • work is not recommended if the temperature in the room is below 10 degrees;
  • drywall can be installed only upon completion of the arrangement of sanitary equipment and plumbing, after the surfaces are completely dry;
  • GCR should be cut with a regular construction knife;
  • fixing with screws is made, not exceeding the distance of 250 mm. At the same time, the screw should go into the metal parts of the frame by 10 mm, and for subsequent putty should be embedded in the drywall by at least 1 mm.

Moisture resistant drywall is a dense and relatively inexpensive material that has a good margin of safety, which is crucial for the consumer.

The disadvantages of Volma products include the absence of markings, as well as the waviness of sheet surfaces.

Fire resistant

This type of gypsum plasterboard is suitable for interior decorating with walls and ceilings in conditions of increased fire safety requirements. Panel thickness is 12.5 mm with a length of 2500 mm and a width of 1200 mm. Such sheets are distinguished by increased characteristics of strength and reliability, and the composition of the two gypsum layers includes flame retardant additives (fiberglass).

Special impregnation can prevent fire.therefore, the cardboard layer is subject to charring, while the gypsum remains intact.

The advantages of the material are:

  • the absence of toxic substances in the composition;
  • relatively small mass;
  • soundproofing properties of the panels.

Volma fire-resistant plates have gray or pink color with red marking. Installation is almost no different from the assembly of conventional drywall, but the material is easily cut and drilled, does not crumble during operation.

The panels can serve as a basis for further lining walls and ceilings:

  • plaster;
  • different types of paints;
  • paper wallpaper;
  • ceramic granite and ceramic tiles.

Fire and Water Resistant

Fire-resistant material from the manufacturer "Volma" has increased resistance to open fire. Such panels are suitable for wall cladding and ceiling structures. They have standard sizes - 2500x1200x12,5mm. These are coatings that are ideal for living rooms, as they have the necessary technical characteristics for home use.

This type of product is designed for rooms with dry and medium wet conditions. It is low-flammable (G1), low toxic, has no more than B2 flammability.

The structure of the panels is similar to other products of “Volma” - a gypsum two-layer center with special refractory components, glued to the bottom and top with multi-layer cardboard with a thinned edge. In accordance with GOST 6266-97, sheets have tolerances of up to 5 mm in terms of basic parameters.

New items

At the moment, the company has developed new materials TU 5742-004-78667917-2005, providing for:

  • high strength parameters of the product;
  • its water absorption level;
  • vapor permeability;
  • special surface density.

Thanks to these characteristics, fire and water resistant plasterboard can be used as widely as possible in construction and repair work.

For this reason, the material "Volma" is on a par with foreign counterparts and is one of the most popular in the main categories. When using it is important to remember that the installation of panels is carried out in the operating conditions of heating systems (in cold time), after arranging the plumbing, electrical system, as well as before the construction of finishing floors (at a temperature of at least +10 degrees).Only in this way can a high-quality assembly of gypsum boards be ensured.
