What release of a toilet bowl to choose?

At arrangement of the room of a bathroom the owner has no more important task, than the choice of a toilet bowl. The person who built his own house is especially puzzled by this, and now he is solving the issues of sewage and what is connected with it. The choice of a toilet bowl outlet directly depends on the layout of the sewer system of the building.

Description

The toilet as a whole is a sanitary device consisting of two main elements:

  • bowl, performing the functions of collection and disposal of human waste products;
  • a flushing tank that provides for the accumulation and preservation of the flush water supply.

Kinds

The designs of toilet bowls, depending on the device of the outlet, are divided into three types: with horizontal (straight), vertical and oblique (angular) release.The most popular in the Russian Federation are the toilets of the last of the listed types - with oblique release.

According to the existing requirements for standard designs of sewage devices in residential buildings and office buildings, except for toilet bowls with oblique release, no other types of them can be connected to the sewage system. This becomes possible only in the case of transfer of sewage pipes to the appropriate position. But this work is not justified by any considerations.

  • Horizontal release, located parallel to the floor, involves joining the sewer riser, which is flush with it. It has significant drawbacks: it is difficult to install the bowl in cases of even the slightest inconsistency of the outlet nozzle with an adapter on the sewer pipe, frequent blockages of the exhaust system due to a rectangular bend at the junction with sewage, leaks often appear in the seam docking. But since the toilets have an aesthetic appearance, they have increasingly begun to be found in modern high-rise buildings and houses of the private sector.
  • Often used in private construction vertical exhaust system. Its outlet is vertically down to the floor. The outlet of the nozzle is usually arranged right under the bowl, so it is also called the lower release. There are options for vertical release - rear and side. For such toilet bowls, a sewage system is needed, which is carried out in a special way, under the floor panels or under the floor. This type of toilet bowl more economically consumes flush water, but inconvenient for mounting, detecting and eliminating leaks. It is also found in the houses of the old buildings (for example, in the “Khrushchev”).
  • Oblique issue has a slope in the direction of the floor from 30 to 45 degrees, it is easy to connect it to the sewer, which can be at an angle from 0 to 40 degrees relative to the outlet of the bowl. That is, it does not matter if the sewage collector passes along the wall directly at the level of the floor or is fixed at some distance from it.

Features of operation

Manufacturers of modern plumbing equipment offer models of toilet bowls with any exhaust systems. Among elite products, operational comfort is a decisive factor in the choice.

For most buyers of popular plumbing models, the following features remain the main indicators in the selection:

  • cleanliness of the bowl;
  • comfortable seating;
  • no unpleasant odors from the sewer;
  • no splashes with direct use and washout;
  • the minimum noise at a set of water in a tank and washout;
  • the possibility of clogging the release device;
  • convenience of repair work.

Immediately it should be noted that the type of release does not affect the cleanliness of the flush, the feeling of comfort from sitting on the toilet, the presence of odor in the toilet, etc. The shape of the bowl and the flush device have a great influence on the above.

In the funnel-shaped bowls, made from the inside in the shape of a funnel with a drain hole in the middle, the most hygienic washout. Even without flushing, sewage immediately goes into the water, which is “on duty” in the drain hole, performing the function of a water trap. The water lock serves as an obstacle for the penetration of unpleasant odors into the toilet room from the side of sewer communications. But there is a reverse side of the sewage immediately into the water - the undesirable formation of splashes. A lot of spray is formed during flushing.

Models with a slope to the drain hole on the back or front side of the bowl are called visor toilet bowls.In them, as in the funnel-shaped structures, the contents do not linger and are easily washed off. Spray formation when flushing is negligible. Visor models are considered the best solution to the shape of the bowl.

There is another design of the bowl, the drain hole in which is located at the front wall, and the rest of the inner part is a solid horizontal shelf (plate) of a slightly concave shape.

This model of toilet bowls is called dish-shaped and is now outdated, unable to withstand the competition due to the following disadvantages:

  • the presence of feces on the shelf before their washout contributed to the spread of unpleasant odors throughout the apartment;
  • water constantly stood in the concave part of the shelf, which led to the formation of rusty or dirty stains on it;
  • frequent cleaning of the bowl of sediment and rust on the shelf.
  • after each flush it was required to use an additional brush for cleanliness (in previous models, they are used occasionally).

With regard to the remaining items relating to the features of the operation of toilet bowls, devices with a vertical exhaust system have the least noise from flushing,the minimum frequency of cases of sewage clogging and ease of installation and repair work is observed in models with oblique release.

Opinion of the owners

If you study the plumbing feedback forums, toilet tips and stories about your experiences of ordinary consumers for a long time, then in the end, you can make a choice. And whether he will be correct, will show his own experience. But it is better to learn from the mistakes of others and sometimes listen to the practical advice of the masters.

Waste disposal occurs through the bowl release device. An outlet is a system that allows passage of flush water with all its contents from the bowl to the sewer line.

Here are some opinions about the toilet systems exist in their respective owners.

  • Vertical release. All good, but for most consumers or not suitable because of the layout of the sewage system, or because of the high cost of installation and repair services, as well as the cost of the plumbing itself. But experts strongly recommend this design for a private cottage: installation of the device is possible in almost any place that is convenient for the owners.In addition, the sewer line will be hidden under the floor in the basement, and therefore will always be under control and convenient for repair work.
  • Horizontal release is considered universal. It can be connected to the sewage system, designed not only for the toilet bowls of just such a design, but also for corner devices (oblique release). However, as noted in the reviews, this is not always possible, mostly in cases where the sewage system runs at the floor level. To do this, adjust the corrugated adapters and even rewire the sewer socket.

Here the question arises: why look for difficulties? Toilets of any modification are available for all devices in large quantities.

  • Oblique issue. He has no equal in popularity. In the distribution network, this type of toilet bowl dominates. If you count in percentage terms, then the departments of the plumbing stores, representing the equipment of bathrooms, consist of 70% of the products with oblique release.

Surprisingly, some consumers call this type of toilet bowl universal. Their outlet pipe can be connected to the sewage system, which is located both on the floor and in a hanging position at some distance from the floor.

In general, it is best when choosing equipment for a bathroom in a typical high-rise building to focus on the output provided by the existing sewage system, and for private construction - on their own plans. And you do not need to reinvent the wheel where it already exists.

Which to choose?

Whatever experts and experts advise, the final choice of a toilet bowl remains for the owner. Dealing with sewage communications and the type of toilet bowl outlet that is suitable for them is not a problem for the inhabitants of high-rise buildings. A matter of a few minutes.

The task of a private developer is more complicated, but it can also be a day or two for him to decide on the final system of the future “hedge”. Among these buyers in recent times gaining popularity vertical version of the outlet.

The reasons for this choice are often the following criteria:

  • almost silent flush;
  • the efficiency of the device in terms of water consumption (these are the models that least use it for flushing);
  • view of the toilet without external pipes of the exhaust system is preferable for any owner;
  • such a toilet without extra external devices takes up minimal space in the toilet room (especially valuable for smalltoilets).

But here it is not necessary to hurry. In addition to the advantages of this design, there are also disadvantages.

Consider the main ones.

  • The choice of models among the range of products for toilets in Russia is relatively small.
  • The high cost of such equipment.
  • Problems of installation, replacement, dismantling and search for leaks (this applies only to typical apartment buildings). The toilet for standard-type flats should definitely correspond to the one for which the sewage system was created. For example, if the sewage system was installed with a calculation under the horizontal system of release of a bathroom, then a bowl with a horizontal outlet is purchased.

But to select a specific model there is a much wider range of features and parameters that the buyer should pay attention to.

Here are the most basic ones:

  • ease of use by all family members, including children and the elderly;
  • dimensions correspond to the room;
  • clean wash without splashing (with anti-splash system);
  • dual-mode wash more economical;
  • the price is not to the detriment of the family budget;
  • ease of maintenance and use of the device;
  • material (porcelain, faience - the best choice):
  • installation type (outboard, floor, compact, built-in tank).

If the buyer's desire for the listed parameters of the selected device coincides with the possibility of its connection to the sewer, then this option can be stopped.

Installation rules

There are general recommendations to connect the toilet to the sewer. These rules do not depend on the type of the system of release of the device, on its functionality and even the material of the sewer network.

They are expressed by the following principles:

  • Release must comply with the adopted scheme of sewage pipes specifically for the selected model.
  • Using various devices (adapters, cuffs, corrugated taps) to connect the outlet to the sewer system, you need to take into account that their diameter in the area from the bowl to the collector should in no case be less than the diameter of the outlet.
  • Discharge pipes should have a slight slope towards the sewage system (2 cm / linear m for a pipeline with a standard diameter of 110 mm). At the same time, such a pipeline must be fastened through every meter so that it does not sag with time.
  • All connections in the area need to be sealed.Remember that the sewage system is not only wastewater, but also gases that can enter the room through any leaks in the system.
  • When installing the drain from the toilet bowl, there should be no sharp turns at 90 degrees. It is better to do with two bends of 45 degrees (there are such assembly tees) than to clean the blockages later.

And in order not to be mistaken with the calculations of the need for the necessary elements for the installation work, it is better to carry out a drawing of the entire release pattern from the place of the intended installation of the bowl to the sewer line.

Useful tips

Experts advise choosing:

  • porcelain models that have a long service life and do not lose their attractive appearance;
  • funnel or visor bowl with a bevel to the rear wall;
  • of the two types of flush, to give preference to the circular washing bowl on all sides in a circle;
  • vertical exhaust system in the case of private construction.

            Everything else (type of fastening bowl, cistern, color and design) should be entrusted to your own taste and preferences. In some ways, you can ask for advice from professionals, but where you can’t do without your own impressions, you have to make your own decision to choose.
