Drinking water filter taps: tips on choosing, installing and repairing

Without water, nothing living can exist. Moreover, it is important to use high-quality, clean water, in which there are no impurities. Filters are widely used for water purification. Their diversity has no limits, but today our attention will be devoted to taps for drinking water. We need to learn how to choose, install and repair them.

A tap for drinking water is a necessity dictated by time and the realities that surround us. You can buy a filter that will be mounted on an existing faucet, or install a filter installation under the sink / sink and install a separate plumbing element for it.

It can be a faucet in the shower, bathroom or kitchen, with the connection in any case, problems do not arise. Many plumbing elements allow the user to use purified and untreated water, depending on the circumstances. To realize this opportunity, manufacturers equip their models with special switches.

Drinking water filter taps are made from various materials:

• Brass is a reliable material that will withstand high workloads and maintain its original appearance for a long time.
• Stainless steel is a great option that has an acceptable cost and high performance. Model in the style of minimalism easily fit into any design.
• Bronze even looks solid and is characterized by high durability, but it is expensive and will not look good in every interior. Such a plumbing element should be chosen for rooms made in the same style.

• A copper crane will last for a long time even in conditions of increased exploitation.
• Ceramics as well as plastic, even if thick, is not the most durable option.Plastic is cheap though, which is not the case with ceramics. It is better not to choose such taps for filtering water if you don’t want to replace them in the near future.

By design features, plumbing elements for filters are divided into two large groups:

• Simple devices provide a separate supply of clean water. They are installed separately from the main valve through which the supply of plain, untreated water will be carried out. It is difficult to achieve a harmonious picture when there are two spouts next to one wash.
• Dual models are suitable for providing the user with plain and tap water, can be installed instead of the mixer. The only disadvantage is the high cost, which starts from about 10 thousand rubles. Such a high cost justifies itself.

The models in question are often referred to as double spout devices. The design can have one or two spout pipes. Such models have several advantages. Firstly, it is not necessary to make an additional hole, which in the future will be impossible to remove. Secondly, the sink / sink looks more decent and neat.

Installing a tap for a drinking water filter is simple, takes a minimum of time and does not require the use of special knowledge and skills. Installation processes may vary depending on the selected crane and filtration system.

If you need to install a separate crane, the installation work will look like this:

1. In the worktop or sink is made a separate mounting hole for the new crane. Initially, you need to make a small hole, and then gradually expand its diameter to the desired size. The size of the hole should clearly correspond to the selected valve, so you need to act carefully.
2. To the filter you need to organize the flow of water. In the pipe through which water is supplied to the mixer, a tee is cut. Through the side opening create a supply system to the filter unit. For these purposes, flexible hoses are well suited, especially since they are not visible, so they will not catch the eye and spoil the interior of the room.
3. To install the tap in the kitchen or in the shower, a set of gaskets and a washer for fasteners are used. One gasket is placed on the hole, and the second is located under the washer.
4. The crane is aligned with the sink / table top and the screw is tightened.
5. Connect the faucet with the output of the filter unit.

If the installation of an additional crane is not envisaged, and the old one will be replaced, the hole will not be required. We remove the old faucet, and in its place we install a new one with two spouts. The installation plan is no different from the one presented above.

It is even easier to install a filter nozzle on an existing faucet. Some models purify water very qualitatively, however, their performance cannot be compared with overall purifying installations. To install the filter in the form of nozzles on the crane adapters are used.

• The height of the spout is selected in accordance with the depth of washing. The smaller the depth, the higher the filter should be located.

• The rotary model is relevant only if during operation it will be necessary to turn the nozzle to the side. Otherwise, do not overpay for this feature.
• A reliable manufacturer, which is respected by the consumer, is a guarantee of a serviceable and long-lasting crane operation. Preference should be given to trusted companies that provide a guarantee on their product.
• Low cost corresponds to poor quality of the plumbing element. With such a crane there will be many problems, it will require frequent repairs and periodic replacement of components.
