Subtleties of the choice of the furnace for a bath

Subtleties of the choice of the furnace for a bath

The “heart” of the bath is undoubtedly the stove. After all, the temperature and the amount of steam in a bath depends on how well it functions. Today, manufacturers offer many options that work on different types of fuel. Which one to choose? What to look for? What criteria are important in organizing the furnace with your own hands? Answers to all these questions can be found in this article.

Special features

A good stove for a bath should meet the following requirements:

  • To warm up the room to 40-50C in the lower part of the room and to 70-80C - at the top. In this case, the temperature transition should be smooth.
  • It is enough to quickly heat the stones and keep them at a high temperature.
  • To be safe, that is, the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning, burns and fire should be excluded.

Other features are at the discretion of the owner, because for someone it is important that the stove can not only heat the steam room, but also heat the water. While for other homeowners, the latter function is not critical.

Kinds

Its material characteristics depend on the material from which the furnace is made.

Brick

The unit of bricks is characterized by large weight (it can reach 1200 kg) and large sizes. These characteristics are directly dependent on the thickness with which the brickwork is mounted. The design should have the following mandatory elements: a fire-chamber made of fire-resistant brick, a grate (grate) of cast iron (more reliable) or steel, an ashpit (ash is collected here), a coil (serves to heat water), a chimney (modern options have a stainless steel chimney or exposed special processing of ceramics) and the foundation (it lays down the weight of the whole building).

For the erection of a stone stove, ordinary and refractory (preferably chamotte, with refractory clay in composition) brick, sand and clay mortar are used.

The use of cement is unacceptable - Under the influence of high temperatures, such a furnace will quickly begin to break down. At the same time the construction is being erected directly in the steam room.

Brick furnaces are famous for their ability to warm up to high temperatures and retain heat for a long time - on average, up to 8 hours, although the exact period is individual and is determined by the heating temperature, the size of the building, and the characteristics of the bath itself.

The advantage is also a high fire safety furnace and the ability to use it to heat large rooms. In the steam room creates a soft, not scalding steam.

However, if you decide to choose a brick stove, be prepared for the fact that it will take a long time to warm up (on average, 4-5 hours). In addition, the construction of a brick unit - time-consuming and lengthy, and therefore not an expensive project.

Metallic

For small buildings, especially if you value a high heating rate, metal furnaces are the best option. They do not produce carbon monoxide, they are durable.

Such devices are compact - do not take up much space, but you can cook them in any convenient place, and then install them in the bath.

Conventionally, these furnaces can be divided into cold and hot.The first are used in those rooms where you need to constantly maintain a given temperature. The latter can usually reach 50-55C, and, if necessary, be regulated.

Hot metal stoves are used for episodic heating., and the maximum temperature is 100C. The disadvantage of the system is the inability to regulate the temperature, resulting in the risk of overheating.

The ability for rapid heating is one of the main advantages of units of this type. The average time of its heating is an hour and a half. However, it also has a downside - rapid cooling of the furnace. That is why these furnaces are not suitable for heating large area baths. In addition, when the unit is in operation, its body also becomes very hot, and therefore there is a risk of burns and a fire. This can be avoided by facing the walls and the floor near the steam generator with a thermally insulating material, as well as the use of a protective screen. Finally, to maintain heating, devices need regular fuel supply.

If we talk about the diversity of metal furnaces, then it should be said that, depending on the design, they can be of 2 types.

  • Closed. Used for heating small areas and is a vertical "box". It is divided into 3 parts: the lower one is designed for laying fuel, the middle one is a container for laying out stones (heater), from which steam also comes out, the upper one is a water tank. With the help of a furnace of a closed configuration, it is possible to recreate the bathing atmosphere characteristic of real Russian steam rooms. Steam on the background of the temperature of the room is wet. The closed design requires a lot of fuel and time to heat, however, such a furnace will give a long time to give heat.
  • Open An indoor unit is different from a closed outdoor unit, which is a grate for laying stones. Due to the fact that this element is located directly above the furnace, the steam is obtained dry, and the temperature rises to 100C. Such a stove should be chosen if you prefer dry heat in the bath, like to warm up and not to steam.

Furnaces can also be divided into those that have a tank for heating water and do not have one. Furnaces with a tank for water are needed in case there is no central water supply with hot water. In this case, the water heated in the tank is used for steam heating and washing. The same water, by the way, is used to bite water onto stones. If you pour cold water on them, the burning temperature decreases, and the stones themselves crack.

Metal furnaces with a tank can be of several types.

    • With mentor tank. The water tank is usually located directly above the furnace, and the heater - next to the last. As a rule, modern manufacturers offer to buy a boiler for water immediately complete with a stove, and its volume is 30-50 m.
    • With added or mounted tank. The water tank is located on either side of the stove, attached to it with special hooks or installed on the fit. The advantage is the ability to place the tank on either side of the structure, which is convenient in small rooms. The downside is a small heat exchange between the furnace and the tank, which means long and uneven heating of the water. Another major drawback is the quality of steam. It will not be easy, but cluby, too wet. However, for tanks in the black, such tanks are suitable.
    • With built-in. In principle, these models are organized in the same way as analogs with an added tank. The first difference is in the impossibility to separate the water tank from the furnace.
    • With portable. In this case, the tank is taken out to the adjacent room (usually in the washing room, but this is not critical), and the heating is conducted by a heat exchanger. Thanks to such devices, it is possible not only to heat the water, but also to heat the room where the tank is installed, and even organize a shower (for example, by raising the tank to the loft of the bath). However, in the latter case, you need to take care of the powerful insulation of the attic.

In brick structures, the tank can be located either on the side of the furnace or above it.

The furnace part can be located either in the steam room itself or be taken out of its limits, for example, in a rest room. In this case, it can be made out of the portal and turn into a kind of fireplace. Heat resistant glass is used for the fireplace door, so after the bath procedures you can enjoy the view of the burning flame. Another advantage - a stove heats adjacent rooms with a steam room, primarily the one in which it is located. It is possible to move the fire box to the next room in both the stone and metal parts. An important point is to provide reliable thermal insulation of the wall through which the furnace part of the furnace is pulled.

Another type of furnace structures is a construction with a water circuit., heating of which is realized by connecting to the heating radiator or to the floor heating system. The duration of combustion, as well as the heat transfer indices in such a device, increase significantly, and the fuel consumption decreases. In addition, with the help of such a system, it is possible to quickly and uniformly warm up all the rooms of the bath. It is important to understand that an air-powered pump is required for air circulation; therefore, water circuit ovens can be used only if the electrical network is running without interruption.

Finally, both brick and metal heaters can be equipped with an additional steam generator. The advantage of this type of device is the ability to quickly heat the room due to the increased volume of steam, as well as the ability to choose the appropriate mode of operation of the structure - with the release of dry and wet steam. In other words, the owners of the bath can, at their discretion, create in her the atmosphere of a familiar Russian steam room with wet steam or recreate the spirit of a drier sauna.

      Types of heating

Depending on what kind of fuel is used for the furnace, there are several varieties of them. In addition, there are combined options for which 2 types of fuel can be used (for example, gas and firewood). So, there are the following types of furnaces.

      Wood burning

Firewood is one of the most ancient sources of energy. Burning through, they will fill the steam room with a warm and unique aroma. Wood-burning stoves are heated for a sufficiently long time. To achieve the required temperature, it is necessary to regularly report logs. However, the heat transfer from them is high.

Wood-burning stoves are convenient for those regions where there are interruptions in the supply of electricity or gaswhile firewood is an inexpensive type of raw material. The disadvantages of the device include the need to control the combustion process in order to avoid a fire, the need to regularly clean the furnace from the ash. Finally, the owner will have to take care of the timely harvesting of logs and the organization of a place for storing firewood.

Wood structures may vary in the way fuel is laid. There are designs with an internal bookmark of firewood, that is, directly in the steam room, as well as units with an external bookmark. In the latter case, the logging of logs is carried out in areas adjacent to the steam room.

      Gas

The main elements of furnaces on gas is a thermostat and a fuse, the task of which is to control the moment of flame extinguishing, after which the gas supply stops.Unlike wood analogs, gas devices do not have large-sized firebox and ashpit, which means they are mobile. They can be placed even in small steam rooms.

Such devices allow to warm the room in a short time. It is important that the cost of gas is small, as is the cost of the furnace itself and the cost of its installation.

The facility is connected to a common gas pipeline or the owner can use gas cylinders.

Convenience is the fact that the system involves the ability to adjust the temperature - just set the desired mode. Finally, the unit does not require constant monitoring during operation.

      Electric

The source of energy in such devices is electricity. The devices themselves can vary in size, power, heating time. Their compactness (they are much less than gas and, moreover, wood analogs) unites, a long service life, high thermal conductivity.

Such structures quickly heat a room (including a large area) to high temperatures, and retain heat for a long time.

They are safe, since the operation of the device is cyclical and automated, they have protection and emergency shutdown systems. In addition, when using them, no installation of the chimney is required, which causes their use in saunas. Finally, due to the absence of ash and smoke, such furnaces are easy to clean.

The functioning of the electrical structure is made possible by the heater, which can be 3 types. Tenovy, or the tubular heater is characterized by high temperature of heating, but short-term service life. Preference should be given to stainless steel heater elements. Tape designs serve longer, do not dry air. Heating turns out smooth, but high-temperature. The most expensive and effective are the combined heaters that combine the characteristics of the two elements mentioned above. They allow you to quickly heat the room, while environmentally friendly and safe.

Electric furnaces are enclosed in a decorative case, which can be metal or veneered with natural stone. However, in addition to the aesthetic, the case also has practical significance - it accumulates heat, protects users from UV radiation, and the unit itself - from convection temperature drops, mechanical damage.

      Combined

Such models are considered universal and can be heated both with coal (or firewood) and gas (liquefied or main). This becomes possible due to the presence of additional removable elements in the design. Gas burner installation here can be replaced by a container where the solid fuel is placed.

The main advantage of the device is its versatility and affordability.

      Forms

A metal furnace can have almost any shape - be rectangular, circular, cylindrical (both vertical and horizontal), figured.

Rectangular designs are the best option.because they provide uniform heating of the bath. This is due to the fact that the heating element transfers heat to the adjacent wall, which helps reduce the temperature of the wall near the combustion chamber. As a result, the thermal currents in the bath are in balance, it warms up evenly.

In addition, it is a stable and reliable design. Angles in such constructions are never heated for indicators dangerous for humans. Finally, the rectangular oven is ergonomic, it will fit perfectly into any room.

As for the construction in the form of a cylinder, there is uneven heating of the structure.that later becomes the cause of its deformation. To prolong the service life of a cylindrical or round design helps to strengthen its walls, but the lack of angles, even in this embodiment, leads to uneven heating and, ultimately, deformations. Due to the small size and ease of transport, such furnaces are often used to organize a mobile bath.

If the aesthetic appeal of a wood-burning stove is important and its firebox is moved to a room adjacent to the steam room (for example, a rest room), portals are used. Thanks to them, the firebox is styled as a fireplace, which makes the rest room more comfortable. And we can talk about a full-fledged portal (then it is possible to achieve complete similarity with the fireplace) or only about the metal decorative frame framing the firebox.

The portal can be made of different materials., but they are all united by one characteristic - fire resistance. The most popular is the framing of brick, tile (for example, ceramic), stone. Portals can be made their own hands or purchased in the store.

As you can see, the shape of the furnace is not just an aesthetic characteristic. It depends on fire safety, ergonomics and most importantly - the performance of the unit.

      Design

Facing the furnace is not only to increase the aesthetic appeal, but also to improve heat transfer, fire safety design. As a rule, clinker, marble, terracotta tiles or majolica are used for decoration. Such options can not be called inexpensive, but they have an attractive appearance, and they have a maximum level of heat transfer.

Application is a natural or artificial stone, among the options - granite and granite, serpentine, marble.

The most democratic finish option is brick. With this design significantly increases the size of the furnace, increases its weight. For the interiors of baths, stylized as Russian antiquity, plastered stoves are suitable.

Returning to the brick lining option, it should be said that silicate is not suitable for these purposes - it does not withstand high temperatures and is not attractive externally.

The characteristics of fireclay bricks allow it to be used in wet areas with significanttemperature increasebesides, it is strong, durable, that is well suited for cladding. The only drawback is the need for additional lining, if you want not only a warm and powerful, but also a beautiful oven. The optimum material is red brick, ceramic or hollow. It meets the technical requirements of operation and allows you to get an aesthetically attractive result.

As for the brick cladding, then perhaps 2 techniques of its implementation:

      • Lattice masonry, that is, the bricks are arranged in a staggered manner, and between them there is a gap (suitable for baths of a small area, because it does not take space).
      • A screen of brick, which is a monolithic structure (this method is usually used if the metal structure is very hot).

Brick facing is taken in standard sizes (250x120x65 mm), masonry - 1/2 brick. There is always a small gap between the wall of the furnace and the lining, which is necessary for air circulation.

Among the modern proposals can be noted steel screen worn on the stove.

However, this option, which increases the thermal efficiency of the structure, cannot be called safe. The case heats up, which can cause burns.

The baths in which the furnace is divided into 2 rooms look attractive, that is, the furnace is taken out of the steam room. It can be arranged in the adjoining lounge and decorated in the form of a fireplace. Then after the bath procedures you can relax, enjoying the view of the blazing fire.

        Dimensions

The size of the stove is directly related to its capacity, and that, in turn, with the amount of steam. The more the last indicator, the greater the capacity of the structure required for heating. And if more power is required, then the amount of fuel burned increases, and with it the dimensions of the firebox or the number of heating elements. In other words, large baths and stoves require large ones. A small structure, of course, will heat the room, but it will take an unreasonable amount of energy and time.

On this basis, it can be established that, when proceeding to the calculation of furnace sizes, one should first calculate the optimal power for heating a specific room. By the way, “reasonable” time for each type of furnace can be called its own interval. For a stone building it is at least 4-5 hours, for a metal one and 1-1.5 hours is enough.

It is important to understand that in winter the heating time increases, as, indeed, in the absence of thermal insulation in the bath.

The simplest calculation of the dimensions of the furnace structure can be called the following:

        • Divide the volume of the room (that is, its length, width, height, multiplied with each other) by 2. The result is an approximate conditional power sufficient to achieve and maintain high temperatures.
        • The result should be multiplied by 2.5-3. This action will reveal the approximate real power of the unit, which heats not only itself, but also the stones, the room, and adjacent rooms. At the same time, the result obtained is valid for thermally insulated baths.
        • If there is no thermal insulation, then there is still one more mathematical operation - the last result obtained is multiplied by a factor of 1.5.
        • If it is necessary to heat not only the steam room, but also adjacent rooms, then step 3 is skipped, and the result obtained during the multiplication in step 2 is multiplied by a factor of 2.

All the above actions are aimed at identifying the number of kW required to heat the steam room and adjacent rooms (if needed) and to maintain the desired temperature in them.

Once the power has become known, proceed to the calculation of the size of the furnace:

          • The resulting power figure should be divided by 0.5 or 0.6. The result is the optimal volume (in liters) of a wood fire.
          • We extract from the last result the square root to get an idea of the linear dimensions of the furnace.

These actions were performed to calculate the optimal dimensions of a wood-burning stove. However, the relationship between power and size of the design is valid for the metal versions. Therefore, before buying, it is recommended to calculate the required power of the unit for heating its own bath (take into account the dimensions of the latter, the level of thermal insulation, the need to heat water, and the neighboring rooms).

The standard length of metal structures from the manufacturer ranges from 450-650 mm, depth - 450-800 mm, height - 800-1200 mm. There are also mini variants, the width of which is less than 450 mm. Accordingly, the remaining parameters are reduced.

If the furnace is laid out by hand with a brick, then its standard dimensions are taken into account and the length and width of the structure are calculated. As for the height, for its calculation the number of rows in the masonry must be multiplied by the height of the brick (65 mm). Do not forget about the thickness (about 0.5 mm) of the seams.

          Blueprints

Despite the variety of metal aggregates, homemade ovens do not give up their positions. This is due, firstly, to their low cost, and secondly, the ability to create a design that is ideally suited to a specific room.

Hand-assembled units usually contain ready-made elements.as a rule, it is a door and a lattice. It is recommended to give preference to metal parts, as cast iron require special fastening. In general, the structure should be made of thick layers of metal to eliminate the risk of deformation and damage.

Typical projects of the bath or sauna require 2 fireboxes. One - for burning fuel, the second - to collect the ash and create traction. The chambers are separated by a grille and have separate doors. Experts recommend making the same width and height of the firebox, as a rule, this is 0.5 m.

One more grating is required if the heater is meant. In this case, it is located at the top of the stove.

When organizing a stove and tank with water, follow the recommendations below:

          • Above the firebox there should be a separate chamber separated by a grill. The last one is to have a door. Its purpose - the storage of stones, which maintain a given temperature. Special stones are used, the usual ones (especially with silicon in the composition) are unsuitable.
          • The design is also equipped with a protective window, closing which can heat the water and make steam.
          • The upper part of the stove contains a chimney, which performs 2 functions at once - removes smoke and warms the water.
          • A water tank is installed on top, and so that the water heats up faster (that is, not only from the chimney), a chimney is let in through the middle of the tank.
          • The design needs a lid, which is recommended to be made of wood, which should have protection against fire. Holes are made in the lid to allow steam to escape.
          • A simpler and cheaper option would be to use a thick-walled pipe as the basis for a cap.

When organizing the stove great importance is given to the chimney. First, it must have a certain height, the only way to create traction. Secondly, the places on the roofs where the chimney exit is carried out require additional thermal insulation. This is due to the fact that the temperature of the furnace elements during heating is high, which can cause a fire.

It is most convenient, of course, to purchase ready-made kits for arranging such an aisle.Among other elements, they have an outer tube with a fungus.

In the presence of wood walls, you need to take care of the protective screen. The latter is also more profitable and easier to buy in finished form, preference should be given to products with reflective properties.

            How to do?

The simplest and most ancient design of a metal furnace is the “stove”. Such a furnace can be organized from the barrel, removing the bottom and the cover from it and obtaining a cylinder as a result. ½ of its part is filled with bricks placed on the edge, on top of which is a lattice. Stones are laid on the grate, the chimney is mounted. The design is closed by a cover.

However, despite the simplest production, the “stoves” are practically not used. This is due to their low thermal efficiency with increased fuel consumption.

For small baths, you can make a small-sized heater of sheet steel, which is then overlaid with bricks. The walls of the firebox are laid out in half of the brick, and the chimney - in its part.

            Wiring diagram

Those for whom it is important to quickly heat the steam room to high temperatures, fire safety and a long period of operation choose electric furnaces. They have almost no flaws, but need to be properly connected.

For furnaces up to 4.5 kW, a single-phase current of 220 watts is sufficient. For higher power units, three-phase current is required. If several heaters are connected in parallel, it is necessary to correctly calculate the cross section of the electric wires, since the current increases by 3 times.

For single-phase connection, use a three-core cable, and for a three-phase connection, use an analogue with 5 conductors. Regardless of the performance of the construction structure, be sure to organize the grounding. For safety reasons, use only copper wires, this applies to wiring throughout the room.

The cable extending from the unit to the control panel must have special rubber insulation.

Despite the variety of electric furnaces, they all have a single wiring scheme. From the controller of the console, the mains voltage is applied to the terminals, wires from the output terminals go to the heating device. In the presence of a steam generator, it has its own wires that pull from the console.

One of the key elements of the electrical unit is the remote. Thanks to the sensors, it is possible to regulate the temperature mode, activate additional functions.

The console is usually taken out of the steam room, for example, installing on the wall in the dressing room. This is due to the need to protect it from high humidity and heat. The wires from the console must be connected to a separate switch, the power of which corresponds to the power of electrical equipment. Wall penetrations for pulling wires are pipes made of non-combustible materials. The holes themselves are sealed with cement. It is unacceptable in one penetration to have the wires from the remote and electrical.

Included electric furnaces are usually humidity and temperature sensors. Manufacturers advise to mount them when leaving the sauna over the oven and shelves. For installation, only heat-resistant cables are used, which cannot be extended by connecting to each other.

            Preparatory work

Metal and brick furnaces require different approaches to the organization of preparatory work. The first does not need a separate foundation. The basis for it are bricks, laid in 1-3 rows below the level of the finished floor surface. The next layer is a sheet of refractory material, and on top of it is iron. Moreover, the sheet of iron must be greater than the area of the furnace. This will protect the floor from sparks escaping from the furnace.

When organizing a remote firebox, the channel must be insulated through the wall. For this, the wall adjacent to the steam room is made of brick (fireproof). Between the wall and the channel there is a gap where the insulating material is resistant to high temperatures.

For a brick furnace, it is obligatory to organize a separate foundation, which is associated with a large weight of the structure. The foundation is reinforced with mesh. After preparing the base, you can start laying. If the furnace is installed in a wall, then part of the wall is cut and insulated with non-combustible materials.

Another stage of the preparatory work - the organization of the protective screen to ensure the safety of the walls near the stove. Such thermal insulation at its height should at least correspond to the height of the furnace itself. The ideal version of the height of the screen - to the ceiling. The optimum thickness is ½ brick. In order to save, sometimes a quarter of a brick is used, however, it is not necessary to guarantee the fire safety of a building in this situation.

Between the oven and the screen, a distance of 50-70 cm should be maintained with a remote firebox of 5-7 cm.

            Subtleties of installation

For the laying of brick furnaces used only clay-sand mortar. Get a strong seam using greasy clay and fine river sand. Pre-clay carefully kneads and soaked in cold water for a day. The ratio of the components of the solution is detected empirically.

A simpler way is to buy ready-made mixture, which you only need to dilute with water. The proportions are indicated by the manufacturer. Laying stone furnace is conducted in several stages.

To improve the thermal efficiency of a metal furnace and ensure its safe use, you need to overlay it with bricks. This is the easiest and most economical way. In addition, today on sale you can find special covers. The latter is marked and is selected under the appropriate brand of furnace.

If it is necessary to heat not only the steam room, but also adjacent rooms, it is recommended to move the combustion part to the waiting room or the rest room. However, such a system is available for wood and gas units, electric furnaces are installed exclusively in the steam room.

For heating other rooms, you can use the underfloor heating system.

Installation of the furnace involves the organization of the chimney. Metal pipes are fire hazardous, brick ones are too heavy, and ceramic ones are expensive (besides, their weight is almost equal to the weight of the brick counterpart). The best option is to put a sandwich pipe that does not heat up, is lightweight and has a price affordability. For safety reasons, the pipe should be installed at a considerable height, and also ensure that it rises above the roofs of other buildings. From above, it should have a net spark arrester.

            General recommendations

It is necessary to think about the installation of the furnace at the stage of the construction of the bath. In particular, on the square where the installation of the furnace is supposed, it is necessary to lay a shallow-depth foundation. In the future, it will be enough to lay bricks in 2 layers on it, and it is possible to install a furnace structure. Experts recommend making the foundation for a bath and a furnace different, with a gap of 3-5 mm. This will allow them not to depend on each other during the shrinkage of structures.

From the point of view of fire safety, the minimum distance between the wall and the furnace is 1 m. The adjacent walls should be additionally protected with a layer of foil with a layer of insulation. A chimney made of a sandwich pipe is considered fireproof, between the shells of which insulation is also laid.

            Manufacturers

If you are going to purchase a sauna stove, it is useful to get acquainted with the most worthy manufacturers of these products.

            Kastor

Furnaces of Finnish production have more than half a century of history, are well known on the world market, and today they are becoming increasingly popular in Russia. The first thing buyers pay attention to is an elegant look. Unfortunately, domestic models still cannot boast the same aesthetic appeal.

However, the "appearance" in the furnace is not the main thing, however, it is also difficult to compete with the reliability and reasonableness of the models of this brand. Especially successful are their electric heaters, which have no analogues in the world.

The rapid heating of the steam room is achieved not only by hot stones and thermal radiation from the unit, but also by convection.

Once inside through a special hole in the bottom of the structure, the cold air warms up and rises up to the ceiling of the bath. In addition, such devices have a special protective plate that prevents the ingress of carbon monoxide into the room.

Finally, products of this brand can be installed even in small spaces.that is connected not only with the compactness and ergonomics of some models, but also with the presence of a double casing. As a result, the heating of the outer walls is reduced, as is the fire hazard of the structure, so it can be placed closer to the walls of the bath.

            "Troika"

Domestic brand "Troika" - one of the best manufacturers of wood stoves for the bath, however, in their range there are also units that run on gas. Reliability, durability, ergonomics - these are the distinctive features of the products. The heating time of the building is 1.5 hours. The weight of stones in the furnaces can reach 250 kg, which means that the steam will be in the best Russian traditions - light, dry, transparent.

The furnaces are made of metal, they can be used in a standard form or lined with bricks. There are also models decorated with soot-hopper and serpentine.

Finally, this manufacturer is engaged in the manufacture of customized furnaces, as well as tests and, if necessary, the improvement of the samples obtained.

            "Locomotive"

The manufacturer claims that its products combine the best features of stone and metal furnaces. The units of this brand are characterized by high speed and quality of heating, no need for regular repairs, durability, ease of installation.

The name of the product finds echoes in its appearance - the furnace is quite massive, brutal, with pipes in the upper part. They give large amounts of steam.

In the manufacturer’s catalog there are constructions of metal-ceramic, the furnace part of which is made of metal, and the body of stone.

A special feature of the design is a round fire chamber, which, according to the manufacturer, provides better burning and long service life of the furnace. The collection of the brand includes stoves having a different type of steam, that is, you can choose a unit for a bath in white, black, and there are also models equipped with steam guns.

The volume of the stove is also impressive, in some devices it can reach 500 kg - an excellent solution for lovers of steam and large baths.

            "Geyser"

Another domestic brand, whose products boast good heat dissipation, high heating rate and reliable construction. It should be noted accuracy, ergonomics of models.

At the heart of the design is alloyed heat-resistant steel, all welding seams are double, which ensures the long life of the furnace, its resistance to temperature differences.

Heating time is 1-1.5 hours, however, the heat in the bath is already 30 minutes after the start of kindling. By the way, thanks to a good stove, the stove is heated even by raw wood.

Another distinctive feature of the models is a peculiar design of a cast-iron grate, due to which, if necessary, it can be changed. Models with a metal door or viewing window made of heat-resistant glass are available.

            Reviews

When choosing a stove, it is useful to familiarize yourself with reviews and independent customer ratings. So, for example, products of the Harvia, Helo and Kastor brands enjoy special confidence when it comes to electric furnaces. The first manufacturer is the undisputed leader, producing products that best meet the "price-quality" requirement. If you are looking for a stove with a stylish and unusual design, it is better to immediately get acquainted with the proposals of Helo. Kastor, according to users, is more suitable for small steam rooms, which is associated with a small amount of heater.

As for wood-burning stoves, the leading positions are occupied by designs of Finnish and domestic production, especially models with a tank, so beloved in Russia.

If the means and dimensions of the bath house allow (carrying capacity of the floor), then preference is given to cast-iron stoves. This is due to the high efficiency of the device, long cooling (up to 10 hours), reliability and durability. Buyers note the high performance of the furnaces of the Swedish manufacturer Keddy (expensive option) and the domestic brand Sudarushka (more affordable price option).

            Tips and tricks

One of the main criteria to which attention should be paid when choosing a bath stove is its power. At the same time, it is better not just to be guided by any universal digital indicators. It is important that the power matches the specific room.

A big mistake would be to purchase a unit with too much power. This error is often made by those who seek to quickly heat the bath in a short time. Of course, the room will quickly become warm, but after that the unit will start to work at minimum. The result - burning air in the steam room and cold stones. Pouring water on them is meaningless, because the steam in this case is not easy and transparent, but thick, like from a kettle. Being in such a room is not just unpleasant, but not safe.

The other extreme is the purchase of a low-power unit in order to save. Of course, the device included in the maximum modes will quickly and efficiently heat the room, but it’s not necessary to talk about the long service life. Like any equipment working for wear, the stove will quickly fail.

To determine the optimal power of the device, it is necessary to determine the volume of the steam room. The latter is calculated by multiplying the width, length and height of the room.

If there are uninsulated areas in the latter (for example, cladding, windows), then you need to calculate their dimensions (multiply the width and height). If there are several such plots, add the resulting areas to uninsulated plots. The next step is to multiply the resulting value by a factor of 1.2. The resulting result is summed with the volume of the steam room.

Often the doors to the steam room are a glass package. In this case, add 1.5 to the resulting figure.

Consider this recommendation on a specific example:

            • We calculate the volume of the steam room, the width of which is 1.5 m, length - 2 m, and height - 2.2 m. By multiplying this data, we obtain a volume of 6.6 cubic meters.
            • In the steam room there is one window, 60x60 cm in size and a tiled area, the size of which is 100x100 cm. We calculate their areas and then we add the resulting results - the figure will be 1.36 square meters. m. Now we multiply this figure by 1.2 (constant coefficient), the result is 1,623 m2.
            • Add the volume of the steam room and the area of the uninsulated areas, that is, 6.6 and 1.62. We get 8.232.
            • Suppose that a glass door leads to our steam room, so we add 1.5 to the last result, 8232. The final figure is 9.732 m3.

It is on this indicator that you should be guided when choosing the power of the furnace. Please note that manufacturers usually indicate power characteristics at intervals. For example, 4-9 m3. Purchase the unit should be with a small margin of power. That is, for a volume of 9, 732 cubic meters. the device is required not for 4-9 m3, but for 7-12 m3.

There is also a simpler formula for calculating the required power of the furnace relative to the area of the room. It is believed that heating 1 m3 of the room requires 1 kW of power.

If we talk about the choice of a metal furnace, then the best option can be called a device of chromium steel. They do not burn oxygen in the room, the steam remains clean, light. As for the cast-iron analogs, they are durable, but they are afraid of temperature drops and can simply burst.

Before buying a stove, ask if it is intended for a sauna or a bath. The fact is that products for the sauna is not suitable for use in the bath and vice versa. The only exception may be the model “Vetruvia” from the manufacturer “Termofor”.

When buying heavy metal furnaces, primarily cast iron, make sure that the floor in the steam room is ready for such loads.

Recommendations for choosing electric furnaces can be summarized as follows:

              • Prefer designs with thick walls.
              • When buying a gas stove, specify the amount of gas it is designed for. From this will depend on the heat transfer performance and efficiency of the device. Each burner has its own fuel consumption threshold, at which a certain power is generated. If the received power is not enough to heat your room, choose a stove with a large burner volume.
              • When choosing any furnace, carefully inspect it - all connections should be tight, the case should not be damaged, without scratches, cracks.

              Beautiful examples

For a spiritual bathing holiday it is not enough to purchase a quality oven. Care should be taken of the comfort and aesthetic appeal of the entire room. Of course, his heart will be a steam room with a stove.

The Russian person, as you know, is thrifty, and therefore in the waiting room and the rest room you can often find an old buffet or chair that has served its time in the living room and now adorns the bath. Of the parts there are multi-colored homespun rugs, bunches of fragrant herbs suspended from the ceiling and, of course, a samovar.

              Country music

Country style also belongs to the village, but here one can feel the influence of other countries, primarily France and America. French country more refined, lightweight. To create it, use wood furniture with carved details, varnished, possibly artificially aged. Natural materials - flax, cotton with elegant plant embroidery. The highlight of the interior can be dishes bright colors. On the ceiling there are surely wooden beams, the floor is wooden or tiled.

              Eastern traditions

Eastern bath is a hammam, so first of all you should buy a stove that gives high temperatures and wet steam. However, if you do not like such procedures, you can leave the familiar spirit of the steam room, and embody the aesthetics of the East with the help of design.

First of all, you need to take care of the walls and floor. It should be a mosaic of bright colors, fantasy patterns, traditional pattern “oriental cucumber”, and plant elements are welcomed.

The scope of imagination can be given at registration of a restroom, having turned it into a real hookah. To do this, create a tent of air organza, scatter on a small elevation of the pillow, get bright tea bowls.

              Scandinavian style

The Scandinavian style is environmentally friendly, simple and natural materials. Wall decoration - wood, brick, whitewashing. Colors - light, natural. Style does not tolerate something extra, complex, rough.

              Japanese Exotics

In a traditional Japanese bath, there are no stoves, they are replaced with round barrels of steam. To achieve the style of the Rising Sun, it is recommended to purchase an electric furnace with a steam generator, which has a barrel shape. As finishing for it use wood or a natural stone.

When making a rest room, prefer the furniture with short legs - ottomans and a small table will be enough. Complete the interior with bamboo screens, a miniature bonsai tree, and fans on the walls. Take care of the tea set of the appropriate style.

              Updated classics

This option is good for baths made of brick or cinder block and involves the use of natural finishing materials, the use of soothing shades, the presence of arches or small columns. The floor is usually tiled, the furniture is classic with laconic geometric forms.

              Modern

Rarely enough, this style is used for the design of baths, because it is not associated with the familiar atmosphere of a steam room. However, the Art Nouveau style looks good when you design the washroom, rest rooms. Its basis is bright colors, modern materials, glass and chrome surfaces. Do not be afraid to experiment with a combination of bright colors, unusual shapes. The presence of multi-level ceilings and multiple lighting systems.

In the rest room, you can put an unusual form of furniture or bean bags, decorate the walls with printed prints.

Designers recommend to refrain from eclecticism in the bath, because it does not differ impressive size. The combination of several styles will look pretentious, annoying.

With a stylistic design, avoid excessive decoration of the steam room., which again is associated with its modest size and quite specific purpose. The best design for it will be a combination of 2-3 types of wood or mosaic ceramic elements.

When making a bath, strive to ensure that all the rooms are one in terms of style. It is important that the design idea is read in all corners of the bath.
