Types and features of the slats for the mixer

Self-repair is becoming more and more popular. Much nicer to do everything yourself, and the bonus is the low cost of work (compared to the cost of hired craftsmen). The quality of the repair is much more important. For such fans, special devices are invented that make life easier and reduce the complexity to a minimum. This is the category for the mixer bar.

    Without connection to pipes and in the absence of elements called fitting (connecting part of the pipeline) or water outlet (type of fittings) installation of the mixer will be meaningless. The plate is necessary for easy connection of the mixer to the water supply system.

    Modern accessories help:

    • carry out installation work with their own hands;
    • fix the valve without centering;
    • combine in themselves two water sockets: for cold and hot water;
    • suitable for all types of mixers (for one or two taps);
    • You can install the mixer after completing all the work.

    Structure

    Plank is a special mount that has two knees and an ideal angle of inclination. Each knee has a special coating and thread for connecting to eccentrics. This element refers to the accessories section, so if you search for such devices on websites and online stores, look for the section you need. Two knees have only a classical plank, there are options for 3 and 4 pieces. It is attached to the screws and dowels. The lower part is designed to drain pipes. Standard connection is also possible on ordinary water sockets, which are single.

    The plank visually resembles two, already fastened, water sockets with a measured distance. Single water sockets are necessary for fixing adapters to hoses and mixers, double ones, located at a short distance from each other, are needed for fixing adapter hoses.Double water sockets on a long plank are used for docking of transitional hoses and fixing the crane (they are the same 15 cm plank with several rows of installation passages - from above and below). We, as a matter of fact, need double water sockets on a long strip.

    Manufacturing material

    Standard strips produced from two materials: polypropylene (PP) and chrome-plated brass.

    • Plastic not suitable for fixing metal pipes, only for PVC material. The joint is made by the method of butt welding: the pipes are laid out, they are cut, and then they are heated and joined to the bar; It is denoted by the abbreviation PP.
    • Metal strip created specifically for metal pipes. Joints can be joined with fittings. The finished end of the pipe is twisted with a nut and a ring, after which the fitting fitting is fastened, and the whole structure is tightened with a key.

    To facilitate the selection of the mixer to such a strap it (that metal, that plastic) is available with a distance between the knees of 150 millimeters.Thanks to this design, with a pre-measured angle of 90 degrees and centering, you will not have the need for complex calculations. All that will be necessary is to use the level to evenly fasten the plank to the wall, if there is no such thing, the stretched thread will do.

    Materials manufacturing may be different. Your choice depends on the quality characteristics and the price for which you will be ready to buy an accessory.

    Standard sizes

    Standard knee sizes:

    • PPR soldering: internal 20 mm (pipe diameter);
    • thread: internal 1⁄2 (more often, such dimensions denote 20x12).

      Kinds

      Types of accessories for mixers are wide:

      • for wiring pipes from the bottom (classic version) - it can be plastic and metal;
      • flow type (for PVC pipes) - suitable for complex supply pipes, impossible from the bottom.

      Installation

      • Installation of the mixer usually occurs during the overhaul.
      • If there is such an opportunity, then a hole is made in the wall for pipe wiring. The bar is “heated” in the wall by 3-4 centimeters so that only fittings remain on the surface.
      • In the absence of this option, the bar is attached directly to the wall,the main thing is to set it exactly horizontally (a level will help you here) Do not forget about the sealant (for a more precise tightness, use linen or synthetic underwinding).
      • In addition to the "heating" of the strap, there is the option of mounting it in a niche.
      • Next, you need a bracket to install the crane. The fastening element is a geometrically flat or U-shaped strap made of brass and having openings of a certain size.
      • If there are no openings for eccentrics in bath tubs (the type of adapter for mounting the mixer, whose geometric axis does not coincide with the axis of rotation required for docking and changing the fit of the mixer), fittings with the necessary fixing elements will have to be purchased separately.
      • As mentioned above, the bracket-bracket is a knee with two outlets, with a thread on the inner surface. There is no difference how the mixer will be mounted to - the wall with PVC pipes or metal - with a fitting or a bar one part of the knee is put on the pipe, the second is necessary for tightening the eccentrics. Thus, the output of water pipes for further connection.
      • Eccentrics are needed to regulate the fit of the mixer valve.
      • In conclusion, you must attach decorative nozzles that hide holes and other effects of mounting in the wall.

      Installation in plasterboard

      Installing a drywall crane is more difficult than installing to a solid base. For a drywall sheet, there are own accessories, but it can be harder to find them than a regular bar. The distance from the edge of the plank to the edge of the water outlet should be the thickness of 2 layers of 12.5 mm hyposboard plus the thickness of tile adhesive with tiles.

      For mounting you will need a piece of wood installed for the GCR, on which the mixer, two sheets of gypsum cardboard or double gypsum cardboard, a metal strip, and also screws and self-tapping screws will keep. All work must be done without undue pressure. With the use of plastic and PVC pipes, you can damage the elements at the installation stage.

      Price

      The price of the bar varies from 50 rubles to 1,500 rubles: it all depends on the quality, material, country of origin and the guarantee it is willing to give. Given that water sockets must withstand the pressure of the head and high temperatures, the guarantee should be appropriate.

      In any case, you can try to install the mixer yourself or use the services of the wizard.
