Non-volatile gas boilers: design features and review of popular models

Residents of many regions of our country are likely to encounter such an unpleasant phenomenon as regular interruptions in the supply of electricity. And if people living in cities can connect to an already-built gas pipeline, then the acquisition of a non-volatile gas heating boiler can be an excellent way out of this situation. A significant advantage of these products is their complete independence from the supply of electricity, as well as the small space that they will occupy in your home.

Special features

All this kind of units conditionally classified by the following criteria.

  • According to the type of the existing combustion chamber.Products are issued with the closed combustion chamber and open. In the latter version, the oxygen that is needed to maintain the flame burning is taken from the dwelling itself. In a closed chamber, he goes through a street chimney.
  • By the number of circuits - with one circuit and two. Devices with the 1st circuit are good only for warming water, as the coolant. Units with 2 circuits are selected in order to warm the coolant itself, and to warm cold water for various household needs.
  • By type of traction - with the usual and forced.
  • By the form of ignition of a flame - with piezo ignition and with electric ignition.
  • At the location - wall options and floor models.
  • According to the material of manufacture - iron and steel.

Combined heating devices (working both on gas and on solid fuel) are also present in a fairly wide assortment on the market and are in demand among many consumers who purchase them for a cottage or a private dacha. They are made only in the floor version. Products can be with 1 or 2 circuits. Combined models weigh a lot, which is why you will not find their pendant variations.

Advantages and disadvantages

Non-volatile gas heating boilers are the best option for extremely unstable electricity supply. After all, regular and long-term outages are fraught with negative consequences in the cool seasons of the year for those buildings where the heating system is completely dependent on the availability of electricity.

The gas unit non-volatile (with both one and two circuits) has a number of positive characteristics.

  • Full autonomy. This type of device can be installed in those places where there is no electricity at all or constant supply interruptions occur.
  • Compact parameters. These products have much smaller weight and size parameters than their volatile counterparts.
  • Even in the absence of automation and a turbo burner, devices that are autonomous from electricity are characterized by very high performance. This will allow you to warm the space with a large area as quickly as possible.
  • Also to the advantages of the considered devices are their safety and ease of use. In fact, this is just a standard boiler, which requires ordinary gas to operate.
  • This type of units is guaranteed to serve from 20 years with almost no repair.
  • In the design of these units there are no electric pumps, so they will be much less noisy than the dependent models.
  • Non-volatile products are available for many years, so their designs and schemes have long been tested and tested in practice.
  • Devices differ in reasonable cost and simplified installation.

There are some disadvantages in these devices, which should be taken into account when choosing a model.

  • Increased demands on the level of pressure in the distribution circuit. Without high pressure, the flame can quickly go out.
  • Specific contour pipe slope. This ensures the normal circulation of the coolant used. Otherwise, rapid overheating of the device may occur.
  • The need to install high-quality ventilation for the room where the boiler is standing or hanging.
  • The need to install a quality smoke removal system. Traction must be natural.

Non-volatile boilers are perfectly operated in those places where space saving is one of the most important parameters of choice. Their power will not exceed 35 kW and weighs up to 50 kg.

Operating principle

The principle of operation of gas units of independent action lies in the fact that from the distribution network the gas passes to the burner, here it is ignited. The heat that occurs as a result of the combustion of the gas is directed to the heat exchanger. If an energy-independent unit with 2 circuits is used, the heating element heats up both the heat carrier and the liquid for organizing the hot water supply to the dwelling.

Models and manufacturers

In the modern market there is a huge range of models of foreign and Russian production under consideration. The former are considered more economical, since they contain elements of automation that can change the intensity of the flame. Domestic units are distinguished by high reliability, but at the same time they have a much more democratic cost and are much better adapted to local climatic conditions.

  • Viadrus G36. The model is equipped with an atmospheric burner made of steel. For operation of the gas valve without interruptions, a thermocouple is built into the product, it can generate the required amount of electricity. Also, a sensor is built into the device that protects it from overturning. This type of boiler is perfect for heating the building and will function, heating the coolant more than 45 ° C.

If you need to connect a pump to this model to increase the pressure of the coolant, but you are afraid that the power supply will often be interrupted, you can simply purchase another power source, only of uninterrupted type.

  • Zhukovsky Mechanical Plant (ZhMZ) produces very popular boilers with a capacity of 11.6 kW, which allows to provide 110 m2 of heat, and a 29 kW product will quickly warm the building twice as large. Floor-mounted single-circuit devices AOGV are produced in 3 main models: "Economy", "Universal" and "Comfort" with elements of automation of domestic and European production.
"Comfort"
"Universal"
"Economy"
  • Non-volatile boiler from the Czech company Protherm Perfectly suitable for heating a private house. The boilers of this brand are independent gas devices with a cast iron heat exchanger. 4 subspecies are produced, differing in power from 17 to 40 kW and more.
  • Ferroli Domina N F24 - this device offers a famous Italian brand. The power of this unit is 23.5 kW, it is dual-circuit and has a closed combustion chamber. This wall option can heat up to 180 m2.
  • Boiler Mora-Top SA 40 G. This is the most powerful single-circuit outdoor sample. Here, the power reaches 35 kW, which will heat up to 350 m2 of room space. This unit with a high-quality heat exchanger made of cast iron is suitable for working with natural fuel. Its efficiency reaches 92%, the highest consumption - up to 3.9 m3 / hour. This gas boiler does not need to be connected to the network and it has a fairly simple control - a thermometer and a manometer are installed on its panels, as well as a toggle switch for controlling the heating level of the heat carrier. According to customer feedback, the device has a stable performance and does not need constant monitoring.

How to choose?

  • Non-volatile devices should function without problems in any systems for heating homes (with forced or natural movement of heat carrier), as the latter often used ordinary water (preferably purified) or antifreeze.
  • The selection criteria also include the appropriate type and dimensions of the purchased gas product. Modern devices are quite light, compact and can be installed even in a small room.
  • Another important characteristic is the price of the product.Devices for heating produced by foreign companies may be too expensive. Domestic units will cost the consumer much cheaper, while all their quality characteristics and appearance will differ for the better.
  • It is worth considering that many independent devices from different companies differ only in a number of secondary features, and they have no unique design features. Almost all modifications of modern independent gas units are operated in the system, which is based on the heat carrier with the circulation of the usual type.

When selecting a product that is independent of electricity, several important points should be taken into account.

  • The pressure level at which fuel will flow in the local gas pipeline. This is usually 1.270 MPa. The documents for the unit will indicate the permissible level of gas pressure for each specific model.
  • If you purchased a heating unit in advance, and it was designed only for the use of solid fuel, then in many models it will be possible to change the igniter and install the burner for natural gas.
  • Heating boilers with both one and two circuits are extremely simple and convenient. If you fully comply with all the rules of placement and operation, they will be quite safe. Often, they install automation, which immediately triggers when there is no fuel intake or when the flame is completely attenuated, as a result, the product will be turned off.
  • Non-volatile boilers of any type necessarily have built-in thermostats that allow you to set the desired degree of heating of the coolant. If the water cools below a certain temperature, the reheat function will work in the unit on the machine.
  • In some areas of our country, with the onset of cold weather and a sharp decrease in street temperatures, the pressure level in the gas supply system may fall. In this case, you can buy a volatile boiler or choose a model of an independent type that can work without interruptions even with reduced pressure.
