Kapelnik for metal tile: types and features of installation

Roofs are designed to protect homes from various negative external influences, including from atmospheric. To protect the most reliable, moisture should not stagnate on the roof. Kapelnik for metal is designed to remove excess liquid from the roof.

Special features

The liquid on the roof weighs enough to increase the load on the roof. It can not stand (especially if the water is usually collected on a particular section of the roof).

The gutter system helps to prevent this, and the dripstick protects the structural elements.

Purpose

The drip removes excess liquid from under the roof, protects the walls and the roof from high humidity. Such elements are installed along the eaves, above the doors and windows.

Kapelnik is designed to perform the following functions:

  • giving the house completeness, aesthetics, because it closes the ends of the roof;
  • increased roof life;
  • sound reflection;
  • prevention of destruction of building coatings, protection of surfaces against condensate, moss, fungus, mold, discharge of liquid from walls and crates.

Design

The drip for a metal tile looks like a metal strip bent along the length of it. The angle at which it is bent depends on the purpose of the product and its type. To give the necessary rigidity, manufacturers make an extra fold on the edge of the skirt. The design is chosen so as not to interfere with the air to move freely, but it does not allow the liquid to enter the space under the roof.

Dimensions

We can distinguish the following sizes of droppers, presented for sale in modern stores:

  • useful length - from 180 to 190 cm;
  • total length - 200 cm;
  • bending length - from 125 to 400 cm.

The optimal length is exactly 200 cm. If the product is too long, with the installation of a drip under the tile usually arise difficulties.

As for small elements (shorter than 2 m), it is impractical to use them.

What are they created from?

To create these elements, manufacturers usually use sheet steel. In some cases, coatings are applied to the droplets, additionally protecting the surface. Shades of such coatings are very different, so you can always choose a product under the metal tile.

Species

Kapelnik for roofs made of metal are divided into two types.

  • Frontal. They are quite rarely installed on the roofs of metal. They are mounted on the gable parts. Such a product looks like a tin element that looks like the letter "T".
  • Eaves. Such elements are mounted on the bottom of the overhang. They protect the ends. One of the bends of such a product is designed so that the liquid drains from the roof, the other - moisture moved into the chute.

How to make a choice?

Choosing the most suitable option, you need to consider important factors.

  • Glitter and toning. The product can be glossy, matte - it depends only on personal taste.
  • Protective covering. A painted product is cheaper, but a special protective coating (plastisol, polyester, pural) makes the drip tip more durable.
  • The thickness of the steel sheet. If it is quite significant, the product will last as long as possible.

How to install?

Installation of the drip is carried out after the construction of the roof (before the metal tile is installed on it). It is more profitable to carry out installation work with your own hands; moreover, this does not require special skills and knowledge.

An inexperienced builder can handle such work.

General recommendations

When installing a drip, consider the following:

  • gables should be installed from the eaves up the roof;
  • if the drip has a film designed to protect the product during storage and transportation, it will be necessary to remove it before installation;
  • a correctly installed dripstick should not interfere with the air exchange, otherwise the insulation will collapse and the roof system will start to rot;
  • when increasing the length of this element is required overlap;
  • aprons are mounted on the edge of the roof, there should be no distortions.

Required tools

Prior to installation work, you will need to prepare fixtures.

  • The tool with which to cut. It is not recommended to use angle grinders, you should choose hand shears for metal products. The slats have coatings that protect surfaces from ultraviolet radiation and precipitation, and they can be damaged if thermal or abrasive cutting is performed. After using tools for cutting in any case it is better to use compounds that protect the surface from corrosion.
  • Permanent marker (to mark the place of fixation, cut lines) and a three-meter tape measure.
  • Screwdriver and nozzles. Self-tapping screws should choose hex, intended for the roof. It is also recommended to use a rubber washer-seal: so the liquid will not be under the bar. Self-tapping screws need not to be loosened, but not to overtighten. To screw them should be strictly vertically.

Installation

Installation work must be carried out, based on certain rules, so they spend the minimum amount of time.

It is recommended to install a drip in a certain way.

  • Installation of the product can be started on either side of the ramp. It is necessary to attach the first drip to the crate, and there should not be any distortions. It is possible to fix the product with the help of screws or nails with a wide hat.
  • Then you can attach other elements. It is necessary to install the products, taking into account the overlap (20 mm and more). In these areas, only one screw is used: the first one for the next element and the last one for the previous one. Care must be taken that the gap between the roof slope and the drip point is the same (about 10 mm).

Places where products are connected can be treated with sealant. This will prevent liquid from entering through the gap where the slats overlap. Along the entire length of the slope, it will be necessary to visually inspect the drip: there should be no gaps at the junction points.

          After the implementation of all the works described above, it will be possible to proceed with the installation of metal tiles. Kapelnik should be inspected every year: it should not be debris and mechanical damage. Scratches can be removed using an aerosol coloring agent.

          When carrying out installation work should not forget about safety. To avoid injury, it is recommended to use gloves when installing the drip. Safety ropes should also be used. It is better to mount the drip in the absence of strong wind.
