Rehau pipe for floor heating: the subtleties of choice

Pipes for floor heating Rehau are available in several types. All of them have increased resistance to high pressure, are equipped with special couplings and fittings. Technological features and characteristics affect the installation method, reliability and performance.

Characteristic

The subtleties of pipe selection depend on many characteristics, the key of which are the following:

  • Thermal conductivity. The higher it is, the faster the heating will occur.
  • Flexibility. High flexibility of the material will allow to place the pipes at a short distance from each other.
  • Durability. This characteristic determines the reliability and durability of a heated floor.
  • Positive reviews. The real experience of consumers and professionals helps to make a choice, given the specific conditions of operation.

Merits

Advantages of the pipes Rehau used for installation of a heat-insulated floor:

  • The production uses materials that do not react with water, while protecting the entire system from corrosion.
  • Reliability of hermetic connection due to the use of a sliding sleeve.
  • The possibility of installation in the screed.
  • Resistance to high temperature.
  • Flexibility and strength.
  • Service life over 50 years.
  • Salts and scum are not deposited inside the system.
  • Sufficiently comfortable installation conditions, even in small spaces.
  • At the joining points of the elements, the use of welding and soldering is not required.

"Flex"

The distinction of this series is the absence of a gasket in the form of a metal layer, more often an aluminum layer, and, as a result, an increase in flexibility, as well as a method of joining, which is carried out using a sliding sleeve without special sealing parts and links.

Rehau Flex pipes are made of seamless polyethylene with a run-up size of 16-63 mm in diameter. The maximum working temperature reaches 90 degrees. These pipes are equipped with a special automatic sensor that controls the heat in the room. Rehau Flex is used both for heating and for water supply and is supplied in coils of 100 and 50 m and in 6 m sections, has a flammability class B2 (normal flammability).

It is worth noting that the use of pipes in coils allows you to cut segments of the desired length, while reducing the amount of waste.

"Rautherm S"

This is a specialized series developed by the company directly for a water-heated floor. A distinctive feature of this pipe is the material from which it is made.

Polyethylene is used in its production., crosslinked under high pressure with peroxides. In other words, the cross-linking of polyethylene occurs at the level of molecules, and its laying on the sections is carried out without the need to cross-link the contours. The formation of chips, cracks and other deformations is excluded on the bends of the pipes “Rehau Rautherm S”. According to all characteristics, these pipes are perfectly suited for installing underfloor heating in a large area, as well as for laying on walls and ceilings.

Technological features of production of this series make it resistant to high temperatures. The manufacturer indicates 90 degrees, but for a short period the temperature is allowed to rise to 110 degrees. And at the same time the guarantee for 10 years is given and the term of operation of 50 years is declared. Another feature of this pipe is to increase the service life of up to 100 years, provided that the water is heated to 60 degrees.

"Rautitan Pink"

The so-called red or purple series is distinguished by the most important innovative addition - the Eval layer. It reduces the thermal return of the heating elements by a few percent, but increases the coefficient of their resistance to any kind of damage and deformation to the maximum possible value. This series is also produced using the peroxide method. Fire Resistance Class "Rehau Rautitan Pink" - B2. As a rule, the pipe is supplied in coils of 100 or 50 m, depending on the diameter, as well as individual straight tubes or segments of 30, 12 or 6 m.

This series is suitable for use in residential and industrial premises, in heating systems for ramps, walkways, outdoor areas, as well as for snowmelt.

Versatility of use

The pipes Rehau intended for installation of a warm water floor can be mounted practically under any covering. This wood, laminate, carpet, tile, linoleum and others. It should be remembered that for each material there is a maximum permissible heating temperature.

Rehau produces pipes for a warm water floor of various diameters. Their size in a section varies from 10 to 32 mm.The most popular is considered to be a pipe with a diameter of 16, 17 and 18 mm. Pipes with a diameter of 16-18 mm are more convenient and faster to assemble, but their use is limited to the length of the pipe and it is not recommended to exceed it by more than 50 and 75 meters, respectively. But the length of the pipe with a diameter of 20 mm can already reach 100 m and heat the room of a larger area.

Moreover, the larger the diameter, the greater the wall thickness, therefore, the whole system warms up longer. Moreover, a pipe with a larger diameter requires a greater flow of water, therefore, it is less economical. In this section, you must have accurate information about the size of the room and make a choice with this in mind.
