The details of the process of installing a filter for water under the sink

One of the most valuable resources of our planet is water. Every day the shortage of clean, usable water is growing. Although so far we are not experiencing a total shortage of resources, the quality of liquid from a water supply system leaves much to be desired, because for many years enterprises have dumped waste into water bodies.

The human body is more than half water. Therefore, the quality of the liquid used by a person for drinking and hygienic procedures directly affects his health, longevity and even his mood. The solution to the problem is filters that can significantly improve the quality of any liquid.

Basic principles of work

If you need clean drinking water not only in the kitchen, you can install a filter construction on the inlet pipe for the whole room. But if you only want to have good water for drinking and cooking, the recommended place of dislocation of the cleaner is a place under the sink in the kitchen. This saves space and provides easy access to replace cartridges.

Most often, the installation is carried out in an existing fluid supply system, but sometimes a separate tap is made. To do this, you have to make the completion of the sink - to create an additional hole. It is also necessary to put a tee to divert part of the stream. Today, in most cases, use flexible hoses, which facilitates the work.

Upon completion of installation, it is recommended to flush the system, draining about 8-10 liters of fluid. Filling the compartments will take from 1 to several minutes. Then you can use the device in the desired mode.

Coarse Devices

Filters are designed to purify water from harmful components. A device designed to eliminate mechanical impurities of a large size is called a “sump”. It belongs to a subgroup of coarse filters. All products of this type are installed in the same type, however, they differ in design features.

The device should be mounted on pipes near their entrance to the room. A coarse filter is installed between the meter and the shut-off elements. The meter itself must be directly in front of the filter. The device is screwed to the pipe due to the thread on the filter. During installation, it is advisable to wrap the threads with a seal so that the pipe does not leak.

Such filters are divided into two types: oblique and perpendicular. Special attention should be paid to the location of the device. The lid of the sump should always be at the bottom, regardless of the type of product. If you do the opposite, the device will work and clean the water, but impurities will spoil the filter after a certain period of time.

Cartridge filters

The coarse filter only copes with large litter, therefore after such filtration many other impurities remain in the water. Small substances dissolved in water can be eliminated using cartridge filters. Such devices consist of two main parts: the "head" and the machine. The machine is located cartridge, and the "head" is attached to the pipes.

To properly install the device, you need to follow a specific action algorithm.

  • First, select the place where the filter will be located so that it does not get in the way and is not damaged by external influences.
  • The minimum distance to the floor should be about 10-15 centimeters, so that if necessary you can easily update the cartridge or remove the glass.
  • Before starting work, shut off the water intake and drain the remaining water in the pipes.
  • In order to join the filter, you will have to cut off part of the pipe.
  • After that, you need to make sure that water does not flow into the device. For this, a stopcock is connected.
  • The pipes and the lid of the device are connected to each other with a coupling. The junction points need to be checked several times.
  • The cartridge should be placed in a glass, which, in turn, is attached to the device head.
  • Having opened the water intake tap, you should check whether the water is well supplied. If the joints are not reliable enough, this can be easily detected by a test water supply.

Installation of the filtering device

A complex water filter is a rather complicated structure that includes more than one element. However, the device itself you do not have to collect.

It is only necessary to connect the individual parts of the device to the water supply system.

  • First you need to connect the valve and the tee together and seal the joint. Pre-prepared design is connected to the cold water pipe. The first exit of a tee is necessary to fix a mixer hose, and the second - for installation of the filter.
  • The device itself must be installed on the wall under the sink. Do not forget that there should be a short distance from the bottom of the filter to the floor (about 10-15 cm).
  • Then you need to install a tap for clean water. It is attached very simply (like any other regular screen) and does not require instructions.
  • At the end you need to install a water supply hose. First, it is attached to the base of the tee, then to the filter. The hose for the already filtered water is sent from the device to the tap, which you must attach to the table top in advance.
  • After completing the above steps, water must be supplied to the structure.

It is important to remember that during the first use it is desirable to leave water open for 30 minutes in order to clean the pipes from debris accumulated in them during installation.

    Reverse Osmosis Systems

Such devices allow you to clean the water from virtually any pollution. If the liquid passes through a similar filter, then it can be drunk directly from the tap.

Installation of this type of device is slightly different from others. The process of filtering liquids associated with the structure of the device. Due to the presence of a membrane, only water molecules pass through the filter under pressure, and all other unwanted substances are removed through the sewage system.

During the installation of the reverse osmosis system, you need to firmly install the support, drill a small hole and attach the clamp. The storage tank is considered another distinctive feature of this device. It stores a spare filtered fluid. Such a tank is necessary because of the low filtration rate.

    Choosing a cleaner

For the proper selection of home "health guard" it is necessary to determine the basic parameters.

    1. Initial water quality. If it has only mechanical impurities, then a jug filter or tap nozzle is enough. If the water is hard, has impurities, contains many chemical elements, it is desirable to use a flow-through stationary filter. The ideal option would be a combination of a stationary device with a nozzle on the crane.
    2. Expected economic effect. Estimate the ratio of the price of the cleaner and its performance for a certain period of time. Then evaluate the work resource in liters for which the cartridge is designed. If you have a large family, and water consumption is significant, it is better to choose a flow-through option with a high cleaning rate.
    3. Ability to embed. If you frequently travel or rent a room, it is more convenient to use a jug filter, such products are easy to transport. If you have a permanent place of residence, you can simply embed the device into the system and not think about the quality of the liquid consumed.

What to look for when buying?

When making a choice, ask the seller for a certificate for the model you are interested in. This will immediately eliminate the inappropriate options. Familiarize yourself with the performance data, the maximum system pressure allowed and other parameters.

Specify the possibility of replacing the cartridges and their resource. Late replacement of parts can harm health more than the use of untreated tap water, because such liquid will be even dirtier. Specify the type of hydraulic filtration cartridges, their price and availability in retail outlets.

Some models of flow-through filters are equipped with cartridges that become unusable during long downtimes. Ask a question to consultants or ask for instructions. In an idle filter cartridge can be a favorable breeding ground for bacteria and microorganisms.

If you want to create the most efficient system, consult with experts about combining different units. You will be helped to determine the sequence of compiling and installing the modules. For example, when entering a house or apartment, you can install a common unit for cleaning it from mechanical impurities. Then put the module to soften the water. And directly below the sink in the kitchen, install a fine filter for drinking water and for cooking.

Of course, such systems require significant costs, as well as professionalism in their selection and installation. Another difficulty will be tracking the timing of replacement of elements at each individual site, as they will be different. But such a serious approach to the quality of water consumed will allow you to be calm for the health of your loved ones.
