 The details of the construction of a round barbecue

Every person who has a private house or cottage loves to cook various dishes on the grill. To date, there is a huge variety of its various options: stationary, portable, with a roof, made of steel or brick, with a built-in smokehouse, various forms and designs - in the classical direction or in the modern style. Round grills from brick or stone are very popular. Such products have a very beautiful and original appearance and fit perfectly into the overall design of the site.

Another plus of such braziers is that they can easily be made independently with your own hands.

Choosing the right place

Choosing on your site a place where there will be a stone grill, do not forget about safety when using it.

It is best to place the structure in the backyard, while not forgetting the following important points:

  • the structure should be located on a flat piece of land;
  • for the construction of the brazier will need about 2 square meters of free space;
  • brazier should be located no closer than 5 meters from any other buildings;
  • if there is such an opportunity, it is best to install a brazier in sight from the windows of the house;
  • the area next to the grill must be laid paving slabs.

Tools and materials

To create a round barbecue you will need:

  • shovels - bayonet and shovel;
  • construction mixer or concrete mixer;
  • measuring instruments;
  • Bulgarian;
  • tools for laying stones (bucket, spatula, pickaxe);
  • stone or brick (it is best to use a refractory material, red baked brick is perfect).

Stages of construction

Foundation

All structures made of stone or brick, including barbecues, should be built on a solid basis.

Creating a foundation, you must adhere to certain instructions.

  • A dug trench should not be too large. The depth should be about half a meter.
  • The bottom must be filled with sand and compacted, the thickness of the sand layer should be about 10 cm. To seal this layer as well as possible, it can be watered with water.
  • On top of the sand cushion should be filled with a layer of coarse rubble or rubble stone. The thickness of this layer should be about 30 cm.
  • A formwork made of any planks or plywood should be installed along the walls of the excavation, the height of the formwork should be about 10 cm.
  • After that, you need to prepare a concrete solution - mix sand and cement in proportions of 3: 1, also add water and crushed stone.
  • The resulting solution can be poured into the formwork. After it hardens, a reinforcing mesh is laid, on top of which the rest of the solution is poured.
  • The finished foundation is best covered with plastic wrap and left to harden for several weeks.

Basement part

In order to begin to build a brick base, you should prepare a solution for laying. It is necessary to mix the cement with sand in proportions 1: 4, then mix the composition until a completely homogeneous structure is obtained.

  • To prevent the ingress of moisture, you should take care of waterproofing - lay a roofing material in several layers.
  • The very first row of the cap should be solid.
  • If the size of the barbecue does not exceed 1 meter, then the laying can be carried out in half a brick. If you plan to build a large brazier - the thickness of the brickwork should be in a brick.

Hearth

When the basement is created, it is necessary to lay a countertop - a concrete slab on it, and after that you can make a hearth.

  • Prepare a plastic solution, for which you need to soak the clay for several days, then add sand to it and mix thoroughly to make a mixture, the consistency of a thick dough.
  • The brick must be laid in such a way that hot coals do not reach the concrete slab.
  • The front wall should be approximately 30 cm thick and 50 cm high. In order to allow air to enter the brazier, several small holes can be provided in the walls.

Chimney

The final stage in the creation of the grill will be the installation of the chimney. This process can be started after the mortar used previously for masonry hardening completely hardens.The chimney should be created using heat-resistant fireclay bricks, since this structure will be located in the zone of elevated temperatures.

When creating a chimney, you must consider the following nuances:

  • it is necessary to install metal angles with a cross section of more than 5x5 cm to compensate for the large weight of the chimney;
  • receiving cap should be in the form of a hemisphere;
  • the height of the pipe should not exceed 3 meters - thus natural draft will be ensured.

It can be safely concluded that it is possible to build a round brick grill on the site for everyone who wishes, and the work is quite realistic to perform completely independently. The construction will take several weeks, however, the result of the work will delight you for many years, giving you the opportunity to organize wonderful family barbecues on the site. Having built such a brazier, you can cook not only baked meat, fish and vegetables, but also a variety of dishes on the coals in the cauldron under the lid.
