Features of linden linings

To decorate the premises of a tree made for a long time. Once natural materials were the only possible option for decoration and construction. Now they are replaced by multiple solutions with enhanced performance characteristics and a host of design options. But the demand for wood trim is still not losing ground. Lipa - a very common type of tree in our country. What are its features and advantages as a finishing material will be discussed below.

Special features

Wall paneling is a type of wall covering. Not so long ago there was a period of frantic popularity of clapboard trim for houses, rooms, balconies, verandas and various arbors. Now with the development of the construction industry, designers have somewhat cooled towards this type of decoration. But there are rooms in the house in which the finishing boards will be the best option for registration. First of all, it is baths, saunas and steam rooms.

The choice of such a tree as linden for finishing is very relevant. People who are interested in traditional medicine have long been aware of the healing properties of lime blossom and honey. But valuable properties are also characteristic of wood. Qualitative characteristics allow using lime wall paneling both for exterior and interior decoration of buildings.

Below are the advantages of linden cladding boards.

  • Structure. In terms of use for construction and furniture works, a linden tree is an excellent option. By nature, the trunk contains a small amount of natural defects. Products are obtained homogeneous, visually perfect, smooth and with minimal relief. This adds comfort in the interior decoration of the baths.
  • Density. In washrooms with a heating system it is necessary to provide ventilation and air exchange in order to avoid overheating of the environment. Wall and floor coverings should also not become scalding hot. In this regard, linden, with a loose structure, fits perfectly (density value is within 530 kg / m3).
  • Color spectrum. Wood varieties affect natural shades. In general, lime boards are light in color, varying between yellow and brown. Some species may be almost white with a warm tint. It is convenient for use in small saunas and any other premises.
  • Natural features. In the use of wood is usually a big inconvenience causes the selection of the resin when heated. At high temperatures, the resin can burn the skin and permanently damage the textile thing, sticking to it and sticking into the fabric structure. In the case of lime, the risk is minimal due to the low content of resins in its composition. The above-mentioned healing properties of the wall panel also appear when heated. Boards are filled with essential oils, which will saturate the atmosphere of the sauna with their evaporations and, in the literal sense of the word, cure for some diseases, such as colds or diseases of the nasopharynx and bronchi. On the whole, being in a pleasantly smelling room with a natural, natural, sweetish scent relaxes and tones as well as relieves stress.
  • Performance characteristics.Lime liner withstands high temperatures and sudden drops, as well as high levels of humidity. For steam rooms and baths it is very important, since the temperatures there reach 140 degrees, and the humidity level is more than 90%. The durability of the board makes it possible to hope for its long service life. The cheapest types of lining can not lose their qualities for 10 years. Elite types of materials combined with proper care and cleaning will last up to 30 years. Over time, the finish begins to darken, but this can be corrected with additional processing.
  • Another indisputable advantage of linden skin is the simplicity of its implementation. Even a not very well-trained shopkeeper will be able to do the work at the proper level without much difficulty.

With all the range of advantages, any material has its drawbacks.

    • As any tree, lining can suffer from the influence of microorganisms, especially at high humidity. Mold and fungi can become a large-scale and difficult problem, if the antibacterial treatment is not performed in time.
    • When exposed to external factors and the proximity of metal structures wood darkens with time.
    • Compared to other tree species, linden material costs several times more.
    • The only way to save money is to use small dimensions of boards, even in a large room, combining them in different directions. But with its environmental and safety this type of finish still remains the most suitable for a bath.

    Sorta

When processing it is impossible to select only perfect boards. Therefore, it is customary to classify them according to the quality of the surface. The difference in varieties is typical for any lining of both linden and other tree species.

There are 4 divisions in total.

    • Variety "Extra". This is top class lining. It lacks any defects, cracks and chips. It is impossible to make a lot of such boards from one tree, therefore the most high-class sections are selected and spliced to increase the amount of materials. Premium grade has the highest cost and is used for finishing luxury homes and cottages. When buying, you need to check the entire batch of materials, because an unscrupulous seller can mix top grade with lower quality ones.Carry extra lining with extra care, avoiding damage. Sometimes from the warehouse it is issued already packed in a vacuum film. The board does not require fitting, it is easy to attach, and all fasteners are usually supplied with the material. For additional protection and improvement of decorative properties, the surface of the boards is additionally varnished, which requires extra care in maintenance and installation.
    • Grade "A". Not much different from higher. Some products of different varieties from different manufacturers can compete in quality among themselves. The first grade allows for minor defects. If there are cracks, they can not be through, have a length of no more than 10 cm and occupy an insignificant part of the surface of the board. If knots are present, certain requirements also apply to them. The diameter should not be more than 15 mm, the elements of light color. The bitch should not fall out. On the class A lining there should be no darkening and rot. The surface of the boards is also coated with varnish or wax composition to impart a natural shine.
    • Grade "In". Lining has even lower quality. Defects are beginning to catch the eye. There may be cracks, chips no larger than 5 centimeters in length over 1 p.m of the board. Also, the surface may contain blue areas of not more than 10%, darkened knots with a diameter of not more than 15 mm and normal light not more than 20 mm. There can be a maximum of 1 knot on the item. Drop-down and rotten bitches are unacceptable. As for cracks, the through holes should not exceed 30 cm in length; cracks along the fibers can be no more than 5 cm in length and 1 mm wide. The areas with darkening cannot be more than 10 by 20 cm. The presence of rot is possible, but not more than 10% of the board by 1 meter. The disadvantages of processing the contour edges should not interfere with the installation of products. Decorative wall paneling can be given by painting it in dark shades for veiling defects. The only advantage of this option is its reasonable price.
    • Third grade. The lowest quality lining with visible and pronounced defects: deep cracks, falling knots, browning, poorly joined elements, appearing resin. Suitable for budget decoration of premises requiring wooden walls. To give an acceptable appearance, it is necessary to fit the boards and then paint them.

In addition to the standard classification, it is possible to distinguish a separate subspecies - eurolining.Manufacturers from Europe have taken care of the additional benefits of such finishing, changing the design of the boards. The groove in this case is deeper than in conventional products, and the scallops are long. To maximally protect the coating from moisture and vapors, additional channels are made in the boards. The price tag for eurolining exceeds any varietal products.

Even in the case of such well-studied material as wood, manufacturers are trying to develop new technologies. Thanks to such attempts, heat-treated wood appeared. Its production is carried out by various methods: exposure to heated steam at temperatures up to 200 degrees, pressure treatment, the action of inert gases and vegetable oil on the boards. The essence is the same - the lining is heated. Resins are evaporated, the products become more durable and less hygroscopic. Thermoboard is a product of the highest level. Its qualitative characteristics make it possible to establish service life from 50 to 100 years under any external influences. The only negative - the high cost of material.

    Dimensions

On the market you can find the lining of various sizes. The main difference is between domestic products and eurolining. The most common dimensions for local manufacturers - boards with a thickness of 12 to 40 mm, the width varies in the range of up to 150-200 mm. The length starts from 200 mm and reaches 6 meters. In the case of European products, everything is strictly limited to several types: the thickness of the three types - 13, 16, 19 mm, width - 80,100, 110, 120 mm, length up to 6 meters.

Most varied board length. This is explained by the fact that it is the most important and decisive parameter.

The longer the boards, the more expensive they are. It is much cheaper to finish the same areas with short products, combining them than with solid boards.

But with a lot of construction work it is required large-sized products.

    Tips

For the finishing of baths it is advised to use lime, alder and aspen clapboard. The main visible difference between them: dark spots around aspen and alder boards quickly appear around clogged hardware. The linden is more expensive, but it will last longer, it will not heat up and will emit a pleasant smell.

The following are the recommendations of experts on how to optimally carry out the decoration of linden clapboard.

    • Before starting work, the wall paneling must be kept in a warm room for several days.
    • It is better to perform construction and repair work with a wooden finishing board at a positive temperature outside or in a warm heated building.
    • It is better to mount the crate for the board horizontally every two feet from each other. You can navigate along the lines marked up with a building level.
    • The lathing under the wall paneling is mounted horizontally in increments of 40-50 cm.
    • For steam rooms, it is common to use products whose thickness does not exceed 25 mm.
    • The design can be any, but in order to increase the service life of the finish and its less wetting, the wall panel should be packed diagonally or vertically.
    • To enhance the protective properties, antiseptic solutions can be used for pretreatment.
    • To give a greater decorative effect, the surface is treated with varnishes and various compositions intended for work in baths and saunas. Carefully study the compositions of such products. They must be environmentally friendly and do not emit toxic substances when heated.
    • If you decide to insulate washing facilities, it is best to choose materials with a vapor barrier function. So you save the walls from rotting.
    • If you have a small sauna or a bath at your disposal, choose boards no longer than 90 cm. They will visually expand the room.

    Beautiful examples

In a small sauna, clapboard trim of various shades will look great. Stripes give the room a more stylish look. And the effect of darkness and darkness can be avoided by using additional lighting on the ceiling.

With a minimum of costs and a very tiny steamy corner you can beat with the help of finishing in different directions. Vertical and horizontal elements of one shade emit different surfaces, but at the same time they look like one whole.

Contrasting colors will add an interesting accent. The main thing is not to get involved in dark shades. They can emphasize seat backs and vertical trim elements, lamps. With a large amount of it in the bath will be dark and uncomfortable.

If wooden walls and ceilings are too boring for you, you can add brightness with the help of thematic panels with artificial lighting. Images of hot stones, firewood or fire will add warmth, comfort and relaxation to the interior.
