Due to the fact that Tyvek materials freely pass moisture from the insulation through its structure, this prevents moisture caused by condensation, and this, in turn, reduces the destruction of the wooden structures of the house and prevents the loss of heat inside it. Since the waterproofing is placed on the insulation without a gap, it is possible to significantly save on the construction of additional counter racks.

The width of the canvas in the roll varies from 1.5 to 2.8 m, the length can be from 50 to 100 m depending on the type of material. As for the temperature conditions at which the film can be mounted and operated, this is the range from -73 to +100 degrees except for the product Tyvek VCL (Vapor Control Layer), which is a polyolefin and is used at temperatures from -40 to +80 degrees.

Such a rolled material is an important element in building insulation.In the Tyvek lineup there are several products with different technical characteristics.

• Tyvek soft - the product is used for attics, pitched roofs, can be rolled out directly on the insulation, guarantees protection from wind and moisture caused by precipitation. The vapor permeability of the material is 0.015 M, thickness - 175 microns. However, the product is not very strong due to the low density of the structure. When working with Tyvek Soft, no additional gap is required, and the film is placed immediately on the thermal insulation, in this case only one air gap is provided between the roof material and the membrane.
• Tyvek Solid has good tensile properties, the material is tear resistant and very durable. It can be used for ventilated facades, metal roofs and with a double gap for ventilation, to protect the rafters, attic. As can be seen, due to the special density and high vapor permeability, the area of ​​its use is much wider. The modification of Tyvek Solid Silver can also reflect more than 80% of heat, because it has an additional metallized layer.

• Tyvek housewrap - this is a special hydro windproof film that can be mounted in high-rise buildings.In addition to high rates of vapor transmission, the product has fire-resistant properties, as a result of which the ignition of the material dies out quickly.

• Tyvek Supro / Tape - superstrong membrane, universal for installation of all types of facades, partitions, flooring, flat, pitched, warm and cold roofs. This product combines all the best waterproofing and strength properties. A feature of it is moisture-resistant adhesive tape, which makes sealing optimal.

Almost all roofing films are mounted in the same way, but a certain algorithm of actions is important.

The main stages of work:

• first the eaves overhang is fixed - this is done by means of galvanized nails;
• a double-sided tape from the manufacturer or a similar product is fixed on its plane, which is flush with the roof surface;
• waterproofing film is laid up from the bottom up at a right angle to the truss structure - to make an optimal overlap, it is possible to use bar-strips on the canvas;
• it is also possible to fasten the material with the help of stainless steel clips using a special stapler for construction work; fasteners are additionally glued with a Nail Sealing Tape;
• Acrylic Tape (Metallized Tape) tape connects membrane overlaps;
• on the valley and the ridge the overlap of the cloths should be from 200 to 300 mm;
• in the area where the chimney or wall adjoins the roof, waterproofing is installed vertically, and its edges must be securely taped.

Waterproofing specialists recommend when working with Tyvek membranes:

• lay the material white side down;
• always leave a passage for air in the ventilation gap, the width of which must be at least 5 cm;
• without fail to glue the junction points to the structural elements.
