Ruukki Fold roofing: features, advantages and installation technology

The construction of the roof is the final stage of building a house. And almost immediately the question arises, what kind of roofing material to use for the coating. He is also worried about people who have decided to change the roofing covering that has already been used for a more modern one. Now on the market is gaining popularity Finnish seam roof Ruukki.

Special features

The folded roof was used in the 19th century, when, after the industrial revolution, the production of metals reached a new level. The so-called fold is the joint of two sheets between each other with an edge. The edges of the sheet are bent at a perpendicular angle. Due to this, when combining sheets, the edges are bent so that subsequently the roofing elements cannot be separated from each other.

Ruukki produces roofing sheets from steel of new development. It has unique indicators of softness, which makes it possible to process the material not only manually, but also with the help of automation.

Unlike traditional materials, the Ruukki profile is lighter in weight, and the seam edges interlock more firmly.

Consider the benefits of Finnish technology.

  • Durability. The company has patented unique coatings that are designed to protect roofing sheets from corrosion and aggressive external environment.
  • Versatility. The ability to use coverage in any design ensembles. A wide range of colors and shades.
  • Efficiency. Installation requires less effort and time.
  • Noiselessness The overall rigidity of the roof is somewhat reduced due to high-tech coating.

Models

Ruukki has released four roofing models that differ in performance.

  • Ruukki Classic. These are smooth roofing sheets.
  • Classic W. Have stiffeners parallel to the fold.
  • Classic Premium. These are roofing sheets with a relief surface, due to which the indicators of profile rigidity and sound insulation increase.
  • Vintage. Thanks to the decorative horizontal seams, the appearance of the coating simulates hand laying, so popular earlier.

Types of coverage.

  • Pural. It has a 50 year warranty on quality features and 20 on appearance.
  • Pural Matt. Warranties are similar to previous coverage.
  • Prex. The quality warranty period is 40 years, and the appearance is 15 years.
  • Polyester. Must maintain quality characteristics for 30 years and 10 years - aesthetic.

Installation Features

There is an instruction for the correct construction of a folded roof. It is quite simple in execution, but requires strict compliance.

Crate is the basis for roofing. A bar with a cross section of 5 to 5 is used for it, from which it is necessary to create a grid with a step of 25 cm.

Failure to follow this rule will cause the roofing sheets to bend. This provokes deformation of the seams, which can cause leaks and corrosion.

If you have a roof with a complex layout, then it is better to replace the crate with a continuous coating. It is also recommended to create it at the site of planned drains and eaves, with a slope of 7-14 degrees. All additional materials must be made of galvanized steel.

The first sheet should be mounted with special care and accuracy. All subsequent installation depends on its location. The displacement of the start sheet by a couple of millimeters will lead to the fact that the last element can shift a few tens of centimeters from the intended position. It will be very noticeable.

The first sheet should be aligned strictly perpendicular to the eaves and parallel to the end board. An angle of 90 degrees can be achieved using a square or on the installation site to build an Egyptian triangle with sides of 3, 4 and 5 m.

The usual type of a faltsevy roof should be mounted from right to left. If the sheets are self-latching, then you need to mount from left to right.

There are two types of supply of roofing materials:

  • modern;
  • traditional.

The first option is the most popular and practical. The supply of material in this case occurs in rolls, from which metal sheets are cut directly before installation. Their length should be equal to the length of the slope. The lack of horizontal connections has a positive effect on the operating conditions - no need to spend efforts and money to seal the joints.

Rolled seam roofs have several advantages:

  • You can cut sheets of any length;
  • lack of horizontal joints;
  • increased tightness;
  • reduced number of mounts;
  • possibility of the hidden fastening.

With the traditional delivery, you get ready-made roofing sheets, with the help of which the folded roof is erected.They are attached to the crate clamps, and then connected to each other.

After mounting the roof, you need to install protective aprons on the places of possible impact of precipitation.
