The main advantages of sound insulation Tecsound

Noise insulation of partitions, floors and ceilings in the home today is becoming increasingly important. This can be simply explained: the walls in high-rise typical buildings are unable to fully protect the dwelling from the strong street noise or from the sounds that come from neighboring apartments.

What it is?

In the construction market, you can find a lot of sound-proof products, which can significantly reduce the level of external noise and thereby greatly improve the comfort of living in any home. However, approximately 95% of the materials sold on the Russian market by various manufacturers under the guise of high-quality sound-proof materials are in fact only light noise-absorbing products and nothing more.

That is why many ordinary people opt for the heavy Spanish mineral soundproofnew generation Tecsound membranes, which are among the most highly efficient in the world. And there is nothing strange in this, since this material came to us from the military industry, and specifically from the soundproofing of submarines and other military equipment.

Tecsound is not yet as popular as the well-known mineral wool or polystyrene foam, as it is a relatively recent sound isolator. The main advantage of Tecsound in front of all other materials of this kind is the fact that it does not actually “take” the useful area of the room, since it is not the most thick.

This sound absorber is used for all surfaces of the room - it is mounted on the ceiling and walls, as well as laid on the floor.

It should be noted that many masters choose Tecsound in combination with thermal insulating materials, and such a bundle can significantly increase the effectiveness of its use.

Tecsound was released in Spain by the developers of the world-famous company Texsa, and its mass production on an industrial scale began there. It is in this country that the largest deposit of such a mineral as aragonite is located, which is the main raw material for the production of the company's products.

More specifically, the main component is calcium carbonate (CaCO3).This compound is very rich in aragonite. In addition, calcium carbonate is the main component of most calcareous rocks, including chalk, marble and others.

Harmless compositions of polymers are used as binding components, and as a result membranes of excellent density are obtained, but at the same time they are very flexible, extremely elastic, with pronounced elasticity, which is extremely important for sound insulation of complex building structures.

Kinds

Such materials are most often used in high-rise buildings and private mansions, in hotel complexes and offices, in schools and healthcare institutions, in cinemas and recording studios, in entertainment clubs and bars, restaurants and sports facilities, in shopping centers and much more.

Main types of material:

  • Tecsound FT. This is a high-quality acoustic sound-proof material in the form of panels of felt of a porous type and a Tecsound membrane. Intends for sound insulation from air noise in various designs: for a ceiling, walls, roofs.
  • Tecsound 2FT. It is a soundproof material that consists of two-ply layers of felt and Tecsound polymer coating from synthetics without the presence of bitumen.All this guarantees high-quality sound insulation of any surfaces: walls, ceilings, ceilings, as well as roofs and partitions.

  • Tecsound 2FT-80 is a sound-proof membrane that consists of two porous layers of felt and a synthetic polymer coating Tecsound. This material does not incorporate bitumen, which ensures environmental friendliness and high-quality sound insulation in various structures: ceilings and partitions, roofs.
  • Tecsound FT-55 AL - a soundproof material consisting of a synthetic Tecsound coating and porous felt FT-55. From the outside, Tecsound is covered with a special aluminum durable film. Analogue Tecsound FT-75 for its unique properties.
  • Tecsound s - self-adhesive durable material for sound insulation, based on the polymer without bitumen content. Tecsound S can be used for sound insulation and vibration isolation. It is also designed to mute airborne noise. Effective at low frequencies due to high mass. It is an analogue of Tecsound 35, as well as 79 and 100. The main difference is the self-adhesive layer on one side.

  • Tecsound sy - elastic self-adhesive sound-proof material of excellent strength, which was created on the basis of polymers without lead and bitumen.It has a damping function, thanks to which it can be used both for sound and vibration insulation. Tecsound SY is designed to reduce airborne noise, as well as reduce the degree of vibration for metal structures and drywall. It is an analogue of Tecsound S 35, 70, 100. The main advantage is that the width of the sound insulating roll is equal to the standard width of drywall.
  • Tecsound 70. Tecsound mineral soundproofing membranes are an excellent tool that provides the desired level of silence in any room. Those who have already bought this material, mark it only from the positive side. Even the buyer, who does not have knowledge in the construction business, can easily assemble Tecsound membranes in his house with his own hands. The basic rule for installation is to ensure the density of the joints between the sheets of sound insulation. This will help prevent the formation of air, which is an excellent conductor of sound.

According to consumers, Tecsound 70 is one of the best sound insulation materials that exist today not only in the domestic, but also in the global market.

Specifications

Tecsound is produced in canvases (membranes) and is available for sale in rolls packed in polyethylene. Roll insulation has the following technical and operational characteristics:

  • Allows you to make the most subtle and most effective noise insulation system for walls, ceiling and floor;
  • Better than all other sound insulation materials, it will protect your home from any noise;
  • These are relatively inexpensive noise insulation systems;
  • Ultra slim, only 3.7 mm and unparalleled in the world;
  • Sound insulation of the entire sound range.

Tecsound is not afraid of temperature changes. His well-known elasticity will not decrease even at sub-zero temperatures down to -20 ° C. This material has pronounced flexibility and extraordinary plasticity, and this Tecsound somewhat resembles ordinary rubber.

If you increase the number of layers of material simultaneously with the soft layers of noise absorbing materials, you can get the best effect. In thin partitions and acoustic ceilings, this quality of the material allows you to get a result that can be compared with the construction of another concrete wall more than 30 cm thick. quieter noise disturbing you to a level that will never annoy.

Advantages and disadvantages

The advantages of this material:

  • the thinnest and most effective soundproofing systems of walls, ceiling and floor with a minimum increase in the thickness of the entire system as a whole;
  • the ability to install relatively inexpensive sound insulation systems with excellent efficiency;
  • excellent shock noise protection;
  • good elasticity and the possibility of stretching;
  • universality, as the material is suitable for all surfaces;
  • used as a substrate in floors made of various materials;
  • can be used with other sound-absorbing materials;
  • not affected by temperature differences;
  • the material is moderately combustible and itself fades out in case of fire (class D1);
  • does not contain lead and bitumen and is therefore safe for health;
  • the term of operation has no restrictions;
  • not able to absorb moisture, so will not mold or rot.

Since Tecsound is in great demand, there are many fakes on the market. Substandard membranes have an unpleasant odor. If you feel it, give up the purchase.

Instructions for use

For the installation of this material will suit any possible basis - concrete or drywall, wood and metal, and many others.It is important that this surface is well prepared - it needs to be leveled, cleaned of the old coating, primed and dried. If there is a qualitatively applied layer of plaster on the wall of an apartment or house, then it should be primed without fail, and then installation can be done directly on this layer.

Work can be done in two ways. In the first of these, only sound-proof material is used, and in the second, it is selected in conjunction with a heat insulator.

For the floor

Polyethylene foam is placed on the screed with a thickness of 3-5 mm. Acoustic polyester felt can be used. It will protect well from shock noise. The low volumetric weight of polyethylene does not allow it to be a significant barrier to noise, but it will be an excellent gasket material for a heavy Tecsound mineral sound insulating membrane that will separate it from the screed.

On foamed polyethylene, the main sound-proof material of the system is mounted - Tecsound 70 membrane. The volume weight of this material is 1900 kg / cu. That is why 1 m2 of this membrane with a thickness of only 3.7 mm will weigh 7 kg. The effectiveness of this design will be about 50 dB.In a simple way, the effect can be imagined as follows. Previously, if an ordinary glass bottle fell on the floor, you would hear the whole crash of a fall. Now you will hear only a sound comparable to the fall of a coin.

As a result of installation, the floor will rise by only 5–7 mm, but the efficiency of such a system will be much higher than with any other sound-absorbing material made of foam material or cork.

You can achieve a much greater effect of sound insulation, if together with the proposed system, you can also mount a “floating” floor system by putting another Tecsound layer under the reinforced screed, and under it a layer of acoustic felt made of polyester 10 mm thick.

Very often, both professional builders and apartment owners themselves do not go for it because of the unwillingness to carry out more complex, lengthy and expensive “wet” repairs. The “floating” floor system and sound insulation directly under the cover with a Tecsound membrane is one of the most effective ways to combat any annoying noise.

For walls

On the pre-cooked surface gently need to apply glue. For mounting Tecsound, a special adhesive for mounting is used, which is realized in a liquid form ready for use, in canisters.After glueing the wall with glue, you will need to wait another 15–20 minutes until the glue is well set. Further, the sound-proof material itself is mounted on the glued wall, which must be measured and cut off in advance, as well as smeared with glue in advance.

If self-adhesive material is bought, the installation will be much easier, since the glue will not be needed, and you just need to free the material from the special protection film and gently attach it to the desired wall. Next sheet Tecsound you need as closely as possible to press against the wall, and then again a good walk on it with a special roller. This must be done in order to achieve the best fixation of the material with the surface of the wall over the entire area, without the possibility of air bubbles.

Tecsound canvases must be overlapped, approx. 50 mm. Sheets gently glued together. This process is carried out with the help of a special glue - “liquid nails” or by heating the material with hot air or a gas burner — in this case, the adjacent sheets are perfectly “welded”. If the installation between the sheets will remain even the slightest gaps, the effectiveness of sound insulation will be significantly reduced.

If the Tecsound installation is carried out on the ceiling, then it is mounted in small sheets, since the material is heavy, and it will simply be impossible to keep a single sheet from wall to wall in your hands, not even alone.

After gluing the canvas, if necessary, it is additionally fixed on the wall with special fasteners - the so-called fungi, the very ones that are most often used for the installation of expanded polystyrene or mineral wool.

Reviews

Customer reviews for this material in the total mass are good. They note its elasticity during installation and its effectiveness after installation. But there are also some drawbacks - a lot of weight, the need for assistance with mounting on walls and ceiling, high price due to the lack of domestic production. Tecsound can not be used independently, without the help of professionals.
